An 124 over Leicestershire
Afternoon all, just been doing the gardening and spotted an AN124 low overhead heading north.I'm in southern Leicestershire so it was possibly on initial approach to East Midlands, though slightly off the routing they normally follow.
Curious as to where it was going and if anyone knows if it's a regular event, don't often see something like that.
Just to round things off a Dakota in RAF colours flew over real low about 40 mins later and I saw it all from me little back garden
Cheers in advance for any replies.

Yes, going to be quite a frequent event, as EMA is a major OXFAM centre for relief efforts. We have just been planning some IL76 to drop in there, as we can't use the An124 due to destination runway length and ground equipment.
But now Manston has re-opened, we may change back down there as there is less problems with operating stage II aircraft in there.

Jet 2 and Slingsby ta for the replies and the speed of em!
Guess I'll get used to the sight of AN124 then(only just moved to the area).
Germstone thought as much but thanks for the link confirming it.
Once again thanks for the replies.

Not been one at MAN for a good few months.
Does anyone know which RR engines are moved on the An124s from EMA? I know a lot of flights go to Toulouse and was wondering if they are engines for the production lines which they fall behind on, for the A380, or repaired engines for tech aircraft/
I also see that An12s seem to fly EMA to Toulouse quite often - I am assuming there are smaller A320 family engines on board?

Saw it land on O6R today...first time I've seen one in flight and it was fantastic to see. Completely unplanned as I had no idea it was landing there today so a nice surprise and got a few decent photos!
