Cosford Air Day

Just realised the show is tomorrow (Jun 12) and am hoping some kind soul can assist.

I would be keen to go up and take some photographs, but does anyone know the likely display axis and where the crowdline would be in relation to that? If I can get the Sun behind me, I shall be off like a shot.

Best regards,

Conan

Conan,

I went last year, and the crowd line is North of runway 24 / 06 running parallel to it, therefore spectators are looking in a Southerly direction - not good for photos. BUT, I like your optimism that it'll be a sunny day tomorrow!!!!

I can only assume it'll be the same this year as it was last year.

If you do get some good photos, put them on airliners.net and let us all enjoy them!

You are right Andy, it was crap for photos but I made the best of it and shot 845 in the hope of a fluke shot and that one of them might get a glimpse of sunlight.

Didn't do too badly all things considered. The show was a blast though. The Wokka jockeys, have got my vote as the most inspiring, unusual and spirited display of all. Well done Fellas!

Regards,

Conan

You mean you didn't think our Vigilants in the static were the most impressive feature of the day then? :-)

Seriously, the Typhoon display looked pretty awesome from our end of the airfield. And the Chinook was a blast.

Well, had I mentioned the Vigilant, everyone else may as well have packed up and gone home....

Thank you to all that flew - and equally, all those that supported.

So where are your photos then Conan?? I saw the Chinook display last year and was very impressed.

The guy who organised it is my neighbour, so I'll pass on your comments!

Well Andy,

the piccies are being worked on right now, but with the weather and Sun angles, I ain't that happy to be associated with them... Not up to the usual at all. Still, these are a few samples. Hopefully better light here at home for Kemble on this Sunday....

Cheers,

Conan

Nice piccies Conan! I'm off to the Kemble Air day too. I believe its the same layout as Cosford with spectators being situated to the North of the main runway looking South.

I just booked my slots to fly there and back, so no pesky queues!

G-Andy, you are not the Tiger Moth are you? I remember ANDY or ANDE in the mists of time some 20 years ago.

Re Kemble, Crowds are to the south, airside being North. Let me know what time you are flying in and what to look for and I will try to catch a few shots for your scrapbook. I will be there Saturday as well!

regards to all,

Conan

Nope, not the Tiger Moth. In my dreams!!

I'm currently hour building whilst doing my ATPL theory exams before starting my CPL/IR.

I'm currently flying Piper Warriors / Cherokees from Gloucestershire and will be flying G-SCPL (PA28-140) this Sunday with a slot arrival time of 0935L. If you could get a photo that would be great!!

Might see you there.
