shortage of pilots

i see from my local paper that a local flying school is looking for instructors to pilot their new planes.. They have ordered four Grob115D s and have had to look abroad for pilots as there is a shortage of them in this country. apparently they are going into commercial flying because the job opportunities are much better. so far they have hired two Danish pilots and one Spanish.. and have a third Dane about to join them..

Is it a shortage or just a lack of interest (or that they're a crap company to work for?)

it is a very reputable company and is expanding very rapidly..so demand is exceeding supply...to be quite honest i do not know anyone who has left school and went on to be a pilot..around where i live...
