Not the Flying Eye at 5:30am surely... Earliest I've ever seen it around this neck of the woods was about 7am or so.

Is it a turbine Airmail? Probably a King Air, seem to be lots of the little bleeders running about.

When I lived in Twickenham awhile back, it used to be Air Antique around at that time!!

Could it be them??

We discussed this one a while ago on PPRuNe about it going the other way across Central London around 23.00 weekday nights.

http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...hlight=Electra

Came to the conclusion it was the Electra that operated the Cardiff to Liege (and return) freight flights, probably at about 18,000 feet.

Was that the Six or the Electra?

Used to love hearing the Six rumble out in the early hours, ahhhh nostalgia...

I believe the DC-6s now have very little work and sit at Coventry almost all the time. All those Eastern European An12 and An26 operators now within the European community are too competitive.

Too bad.

Hi Guys. Almost every night, around 2300, I hear what sounds like a shed flying over Brighton and returning again around 0400. Presume this is a shed from Luton going to France or somewhere. Would love to know what/why/where etc as it drones away for ages overhead.

BRL, that'll be the Gemstone Shed from I think Luton to CDG and back to Coventry. Around that time there are also 2 Rapex F27's and a Swift (SWT) ATP which will be one of the ones airmail 1 started the post about. The F27's go back to Manchester and Birmingham around 0530.

There is no Emerald Shed from Ltn to CDG. The CDG route starts in Paris goes to Cvt and goes back later in the morning.

I can't think of any of the Shed routes that go over brighton at 2300 unless it's a charter.

Sas, Gem are the only Shed's that go that way which is why I thought it was them, knew they did the route, just not the timings! I'll never forget the day I forgot to chuck Reddo to Paris, she reminded me to do it, and still reminds me about it occasionally now.......

I've always preferred staying with London as long as possible!!

If BRL's shed is coming from France at 2300 and going back at 0400, then that is probably the CDG-CVT-CDG Emerald route as the times are about right, though there is a German Shorts that comes into Coventry every night.

Ahhh SayAgain once again you are correct, the German one will be the Executive 101 (EXC I think) and occasionally they send in 2 as they always come out 2 minutes apart on their way back to Frankfurt. Used to be a Beech of some kind, but I believe one crashed a few years ago on this flight.
