10years ago we stayed at the Hotel Luz Marina in C an Pastilla. At that time we were allowed on the roof from where you could see the airport.
The hotel was very nice, but i have heard building work has obscured a lot of the views of the airport.
Enjoy your holiday.

There is the hotel Alexandra - it is basic, but clean and very adequate if "spotting" at LEPA. You will be better off with a hire car if you want to get around to take any photos. Not sure of a www. but Google it and see! It is by an area which is pleasant for eating out in the evening.

Spotting at Dublin
Hi, are there any spotting facilities at dublin inside the terminal or is it just a case of finding somewhere on the perimeter road? i wont have a car there so is the airport boundary walkable!?
Hi hampshireandy
There are no "facilities" inside or around the terminal. There are one or two, restriced view locations inside the terminal, although, if you go up to the Mezzaine level and through to the back of the "skyview"/Thomas Reid bar you can look out over the "B" gates. Adjacent to the bar is an "eatteary", at the back of that there is a passage way to the toilets with a simiar view.
Other than that ... at the end of the Mezzaine, beside the McD's you can peer across the A gates and from the Departures level, where the Bank Of Ireland used to be, beside the check in area "A" you can see, just, over the C gates. If you felt "brave" you could walk up to the top of the Car park C block and loiter there ... you'll get something of a view from there ... it's about 10 mins from the terminal.
You'd have to leave the airport complex to access the perimeter road, but it's walkable. If 28/10 is active, then you could walk to the parallel public road in about 20/30mins from the terminal.
The best viewing points are outside the airport along the perimeter roads.

Indeed, although it would be nice if we had a nice closeby viewing area, like nearly every other civilian private and public/ government airports in the country... since it is the biggest!
Have fun at Dublin, there'll be plenty of craft about

The "I have not seen the large Red letters at the top" thread
Hi
I know that there is a spotting balcony at Stuttgart, however I was wonderinf what the facilities are like?
Do you have to re-pay in each time you go out fothe terminal for a smoke etc,
any help appreciated, also what would be the ideal lense type for photos from this location

I recently visited Stuttgart and had no problems going on and off the viewing deck and paying only once. That said there were only about ten people using it all day as the weather was not good. The cafe on the terrace was closed for refurbishment but was due to open "in April". Plenty of paces to eat in the terminal some with views across the apron in front of the terminal.
Regarding photography, aircraft parking in front main terminal and the viewing terrace area need only 100-150mm lense, the mainly german commuter types park to the east and require 200-300mm depending on the way they taxi in and park. GA and executives park even further east and tend to park nose on and so are not good for photos.
If the landing runway is towards the east a 200-300mm lense may be OK, the day I was there they were landing on the westerly runway and aircraft were too high on take off to be usefully photographed.

The "I have not seen the large Red letters at the top" thread
Headed to Toulouse next week for a few days and was hoping to do a little bit of spotting on a day off.
I'd be grateful on any advice as to the best places to spot around Toulouse Blagnac (TLS).
Cheers

is there anywhere at manchester where you can spot, but get there on foot, i dont mind if it takes about 45 minutes to get there, but rather not that airport car park, but hopefully a runway position.
I hope to be going there on a weekday so not the AVP as the buses dont run, but anywhere you can recommend which is accessible by foot.
I hope somebody can help
