Lots of stuff in the news about this, eg

Why can the new 777 only fly London to Sydney in one direction non-stop? Obviously it needs a tailwind, so why not fly Sydney to London eastbound rather than back the other way?

I'd have thought that the market for such long range aircraft was even lower than that for the A380 and others.
I guess though it makes sense to go after such a small market as long as you don't have to develop a whole new jet to do so - and can simply get away with extending an existing model.

The thought of being incarcerated in a metal tube for 18 hours really doesn't appeal to me. When I went down and back to Oz I really appreciated getting out and stretching my legs in Singapore.
The issue of DVT seems to have been forgotten, surely it increases if you are on an aircraft for 18 hours non stop?

I'm with Surely Not on this one.
Also when i went to Australia twice i enjoyed getting out of the plane to stretch the legs if there is a market for this kind of flights only time will tell. Anyone knows how well Singapore Airlines non-stop operations to the States is going?
Thanks
