Orion P-3 to the Antarctic

Saw an interesting report on the news last night while listlessly channel hopping after 'Bomber Crew'. Repeated on the BBC website; if we have to crash-land on the ice. Looks fascinating (made me wish I had applied to the 'Antarctic Survey' when I had the chance!), can guess the flying steady at 300m in strong winds and turbulence must 'entertaining'.

Didn't one of the British Antartic Survey Twotters get written off this year whilst attempting to land on an ice runway?
