easyJet in MAD

Buenos Dias,

Firstly forgive me that this is not in Spanish, it is not that good yet.

I work for easyJet, UK, and am looking at moving with the company to the new MAD base opening in Feb.

easyJet have given us a contract but as it is a Spanish contract we have little to base our opinions on it.

So could I ask fellow Spainsh pilots, employed by Spanish carriers the following questions;

1. What is your basic Salary Capt, SFO & FO.

2. Does the company pay into a pension?

3. What allowances do you get from the company, per diem, horly rate, overnight etc.

4. What tax allowances can you expect from the gov't.

5. I only have tax figures from a few years ago, do you have the current ones?

Gracias.

Dear Easy,

If you are coming to MAD, a warm welcome to you.

Regarding salary and paying scales, Easy pays better than almost any Spanish company.

Taxes will depend on salary, but also, I think you may choose to pay taxes in the UK.

Good luck and Merry Christmas

Just for info for any one employed by ezy uk or applying from outside ezy - BALPA is currently adviceing their members NOT TO SIGN ANY CONTRACTS with ezy Spain.

That's a very good news for Clickair and Vueling which are expanding a lot those days to end up with a total 60 A320's by 2008 :D :ok:

Very good news as well for Ryanair still expanding a lot in Spain :}

So carry on this way and easyJet will rapidly loose its potential market in Spain :E ...

As long as we dont end up with the horrible contracts of above mentioned airlines (dont know what kind of contracts click is offering), then maybe ezy could, potentialy, maybe, possibly etc etc end up being at least a medium term employer....

56% up this year...

calypso 13th Jan 2007 22:18

ICING AOA

Obviously the powers that be at Ezy don't agree with you, otherwise they would not have lowered the terms and conditions for Spain methinks.

Vueling, Ryanair (in spain) and Clickair, Spanair have absolutely no problem to find people !! The only problem they encounter is that they have too many applicants willing to work for them !!
If easyJet wants to lower terms and conditions in Spain, it is because competition is HARD !!

So if your BALPA wants to create some troubles to easyJet Spain, it might result of no spanish base anymore :p :(

What do you prefer ? :O

CaptainProp 14th Jan 2007 16:00

Seriously, do you really think that ezy could not operate with current UK T&Cs out of MAD without making money and being competetive??

Reallity check needed I think.... But anyway, not here to have an argument with you about this...

My point is that if we, the pilots, via our unions (BALPA and others in Europe) accept contracts like the one ezy is offering in Spain then we will ALL soon be on bread and water my friend. Where do you think the next ezy base, not on UK contract, will be?? I think eastern Europe...then they will start hireing and basing ALL the staff there on a 6/2 (or similar) schedule. On day one you will be operating a flight from your base in to London, then you spend 5 days operating out of London....Getting paid 30% (?) less, doing the same job as I am... Then the rest (Monarch, Thomson, Air Berlin (already doing this??), First Choice etc etc) will join.....

At the end of the day, its up to me, you, us to decide when enough is enough....

I wish you all good luck!

I think that you will find that while there is no shortage of low houred non rated FO's in Spain (and BTW most of them will not speak english to a level required by a UK airline). There are very few experienced FO's and hardly any captains.

Spanair only hires FO's and low experience is not a problem since they already have an stablished airline there. Vueling and Click are really strugling to find experienced pilots and they have been increasing the Terms and Conditions steadily in order to be able to crew their airplanes. Did you know that with Click you can fly 7 on 7 off? Both Click and Vueling offer bases in Barcelona which are much more appealing to expats and people are prepared to lower their income in order to live in the sun. Madrid is freezing in winter, boiling in summer and nowhere near a beach. Finally the planed growth of the low cost airlines in the next two years in Spain is in the order of 40 airframes. D you think they are going to be crewed by 200 hour guys that got their licence five years ago and haven't flown since?. This is the very unfortunate situation of most in the big pool of pilots in Spain.

Ezy is counting on taking some of the Air Madrid guys (as they have just lost their AOC) but I dare say most of them have already been offered jobs by Click and Vueling.

Ezy will pick up some very keen low houred FO's in Spain and in five years time they will make excellent captains. For the next couple of years is in the same global market place for pilots as everybody else. The proof of this is that the Madrid base remains undercrewed.

ICING AOA 15th Jan 2007 14:25

calypso := ,
apart from the cadets from CTC, ezy wont take low hours guys, i dont know where you got that from  !!
yes I know clickair is 7/7 which is bad to my own point of view...

Finally, stop considering that all spanish people cant speak english properly, most of them could even easily correct all your mistakes that we can read each time you post a reply here on PPRUNE !!

And at last, lots of air nostrum guys, Denimair guys, swiftair guys, etc, etc are interested in going on the Airbus or Boeing one day !! and they are obviously not 200 hours guys !! sin olvidar los que estan volando el B737 o el A320 en Asia cobrando nada !!

calypso 15th Jan 2007 20:42

Even a two year old child could correct my many mistakes:{

Hi guys!
very interesting thread!
Can anybody clarify EZY T&C in MAD please?
We are fighting between us when Easy, Iberia, Spanair (ridicolous pay), Ryanair etc...are making money!!! :ugh:
Just jumped from RYR to EZY for better t&c...RYR pilots in MAD are all Brookfield cos ryr contract is crap!!!
Honestly would be interesting to know what ezy is offering for mad...
