Iberia Gibraltar Operation success?

Now that Iberia have been flying the MAD-GIB-MAD for a while is there any feed back? Loads reported as encouraging with many pax flying to Gibraltar but quickly crossing into Spain.

Airbus 319 looks smart every time I see it on arrival/departure and look forward to flying on it on Tuesday

Por lo que tengo entendido va ser GB Airways la que realize las conexiones entre Gibraltar y Madrid bajo el acuerdo de One World.

Flights to Gibraltar

Well certainly for the moment I think it's Iberia.

I have a question though - is the plan that one day GIB will be like GVA or BSL i.e. there will be one exit to Spain and another exit to GIB just like at the moment in those Swiss airports I've mentioned, you can exit into France or Switzerland?

In theory you do that now when you land from Madrid. Can have direct access into Spain without passing Gibraltar immigration.

Saw today a small exhibition on how the new terminal and layout would look. Quite impressive.

Flights into Gibraltar

That's interesting, but only on flights from Madrid? If I fly to Gibraltar from the UK, I'm presumably obliged to exit into Gibraltar for the moment. Just thinking about those dreadful Friday evening queues I experienced (in a car) a year ago to get into Spain, but maybe that's a thing of the past.

Can't see anything about the new terminal on the web for the moment.

A thing of the past

Yes they should shut the PIRATE ROCK till they get their ****e together.
It should be NO fly to, from or thru spain to the tax evasion paradise.
That is my thought!

Ben, Yeah, unlike some people who dont like progresion - in what ever form - arriving from UK still requires passport control Gib side. Then pax have to walk to Spanish side of frontier.

The traffic flow has been much improved - after agreement on both sides. The lengthy q's have all but gone - apart from peak periods. In general much better for all - no doubt especially for the Spanish who like to pop across for cheap petrol!

Nivsy - thanks

Yes, thanks for that info. May use GIB in the future to get to Cadiz as the nearest place my current airline flies to is AGP (though XRY is often not much more than staff travel if you book ahead!).

Cheers, Ben.
