Join Emirates!
Guys! The old proverb of "It used to be great but now it's just not so bad either" prevails...
No increase on pay in at least 6 years, in real terms...that is...With simbolic raises and hyperbolic inflation. New toys and important positions available...hundreds of astronauts required for the foreseeable future! Quick commands may be an option, but savings won't. Interested parties may queue at the proper website. And the opinions are??????..... |
Still a better deal than what I got right now.....where do I sign?
|
YUPP, I agree. QNH1013, when you have found where to sign, can you please pass me a pen with black ink ?
|
Do you really want to live in a country that still stones women to death for adultery ???
|
Valid point noblues - but remember they only do it after the adultery has been committed! - so that's all right then ;)
|
If men out there were stoned for adultery, there wouldn't be many left, would there?

True, killing people is nasty, but there more countries like this. I can't remember exactly where, but I know there is one where they kill by an injection, or electric chair or at the schools with guns....
Seriously, the point is not HOW they kill them: just stop doing it at all. |
Are there any Emirates flyers in here?
|
Are there any WOMEN here today ????
(Life of Brian Fans will understand) I've been here 6 Months and havn't seen a good stoning advertised yet ! |
"Clip on beards....get your clip on beards....only 5 sheckels" !!
|
Do your research, flyboys!! When did you last read of a woman being stoned to death in Dubai? More likely to be plain "stoned"!
http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif ------------------ Bus429 - the pilot's pal! |
The opposite is quite true, a woman committing adultery gets sponsored by the Airline.

Yes killing people is not nice. However in many cases in the Gulf it is the harsh deterrent that ensures that crime is lower than it is in the West!
MG ------------------ Don't land in a field or the sheep will eat the aircraft. |
And they do not need a pilot union either as management takes care of everything, isn't that a nice service.
Get screwed in the simulator by a complete foreigner for free as a bonus. ------------------ Smooth Trimmer |
Streamline - get over it, puleeeeease.
Your wife can screw up your life anywhere. (I know what I´m talking about) Don´t forget, it takes two to tango.(No I don´t want the details - again) Look forward, not back! Some relationships actually work out... |
....if there is enough money and prozac...
------------------ Smooth Trimmer |
...you could be right...
I´ll have a Pernod on the two of us (you and me) depressed @ssholes! |
That's almost proper semantics

Anyone ever heard of jobsecurity at EK....one weeks notice from the company, however you will be brought to the airport and have your visa cancelled within 1 hour.
As they wont sponsor your national airline, in fear that their business will go better so you might get a job back home, you will be sent by Emirates to the closest location to your home contry. Ticket cost is taken from your last salary...... United Arab Hemoroids...No thanks!!!......I´m happy where I am.....would I so have to pay 99.99% tax |
Woman stoned to death Augustish last year in RAK. All the fun of living in a country with shariah law I suppose.
|
Fly Through
If you're implying that the same could happen in Dubai ... Ras Al Khaimah is a far cry from the sophisticated and relatively civilised Emirate of Dubai, both in distance and attitude, as well as their respective interpretation and implementation of Shariah law. The powers that be are far more tolerant in Dubai than their neighbours in Sharjah and even the more distant Abu Dhabi. Also, double standards are rife in this part of the world - Westerners literally get away with murder - and I would put money (if it was allowed !) on the woman punished not being of Western origin. Harsh but unfairly true. |
Ever picked up a copy of Sharia law? OK, not rivetting reading for most of us, but next time you stroll into your local Islamic bookshop have a look at one (English translations are available).
Have a look at the section on punishment for adultery. It's death by stoning of course...but the interesting bit is the rule on how to stone a woman to death. The text dictates that a woman must be placed in a trench in the ground before the process commences...so that if she happens to become 'exposed' or 'unclothed' during the barrage that she will not cause scandal to herself or the spectators. How thoughtful. Dubai may be different (today)...but Iran used to be a liberal regime as well, until the Mullahs got a grip. That's me well and truly Fatwah'd then. |
Any one of you guys ever submitted a pilot application with this airline? After all these adverse comments about this country and its national airline I sincerely hope not. I hope that all the above comments I have read aren't the results of unsuccessful applications or interviews.
|
Hi guys. I'm not going to move this but........wouldn't it be better on R&N or Terms of...?, or was it shoved here from one of those?
Sure looks like an AT issue to me! OK I give in! Just seen the bit on R&N about it. If you can keep it on AT issues and not too phobic I'll TRY and persuade 'Towers' to have it back! [This message has been edited by BOAC (edited 02 May 2001).] |
Actually woofer, you're half right. I did apply to them once when times were tough. I did the group interview and breezed it. I was offered the job.
I went home and thought about it. The contract arrived later by post. By then I wasn't so desperate any more and I returned it with a polite thank you note. Glad I did too. |
