I'm also interested in what those with residences in Spain are curently thinking. I love that area and was seriously thinking of short listing it for retirement but I'm starting to hear it's getting very congested and expensive.

The further away from Benedorm you go the better. I have brought an apartment in Javea which is still being built but prices have gone up since I put my deposit down. I was advised by the builder that current prices are about 30% higher than when I secured the apartment 18 months ago.

Thanks for the info I know a little of that area. Do you know of any other buildings in Javea that are selling in the pre-construction phase now or do you have the contact info of a realtor etc. who may be able to help.

If you wouldn't mind I would also be very interested in receiving any information/opinions you may have regarding this subject.
I'm getting a lot closer to sitting comfortably in the back of the airplane for my travels and my wife and I are currently considering all our retirement options vis-a-vis residences etc. and would therefore appreciate any info.
I expect there's lot's of other Ppruner's on this forum who would also be interested in anything you feel comfortable about posting.

CP there are several delevopments near Malaga which offer tremendous deals when purchasing new property. Locally, there is a developer offering 20% deposit when you buy, with the balance due upon delivery in 12 months time. It doesn't need a genius to work out that with an average rise in this sector of over 25% , your small deposit can show a generous return when you sell your property before you ever take delivery !

I wondered on what basis your 'boom and bust' opinion is based ? are you talking about locally here in Malaga ? or Andalucia or Spain in general ?
Opinions, particularly about the Costa del Sol property market, are obviously of interest to me being a resident here !
In Aldalucia we have an expanding market for property.
AGP had 11,000,000 visitors last year and local government projections suggest this will increase to 17,000,000 within the next five years.
Demand is high for property, mainly due to the lovely climate, relatively low cost of living, and good quality of life.
House prices are increasing, and there are many ecnomic and social arguements about this both for and against, but the fact remains that demand is high at present, like it or not !
As regards 'boom and bust' , well who knows what will happen in the future ?
