International Health Coverage
After going over one of the other topics in here, "Designed by Airline Pilots for Those in the Aviation Industry" I checked out some information on their sites and found this subject very interesting and figured many of us could use some more information on it.
Their are a number of companies that offer total health care coverage abroad, some based on the size of the group applying, some individual coverage, etc.
Does anyone have any advice, knowledge, experience, in this area? What are the best plans? Who have the best deals?
Any major problems? Gripes?
Many of us could use this kind of knowledge, so anyone replying, please limit your comments to this topic only, and if you are selling or have an interest in giving the best deal on your companies coverage, then by all means, present it here.
Thanks

To answer your Q
"First, if possible, I was very intrigued by the health coverage survey and section. Would you be able to post in the "International Health Coverage" thread something about what your doing and whats involved in selecting a plan? (I take it its not individual health coverage.)"
IPG is currently taking an age survey to determine the average age of our membership so the underwriters can determine fees.
There is significant strengh in numbers consequently we are in discussions with various other groups (such as the Chamber of Commerce) to apply as one group which will lower our fees considerably.
The coverage is intended to be a stand alone policy for those who do not have medical coverage or as a supplemental policy for those who are covered but would like additional coverage. The beauty of private medical insurance rests in the ability to tailor-make a program of protection that meets an individual's unique needs, circumstances and budget.
If any one has personal experience with or knowledge of any comprehensive private medical insurance programs (whether pro or con) we would be very interested in hearing about them.

I have used International Blue Cross for years and have been very pleased with their coverage. Will you have an air medivac option for example to Miami if necessary?
What are the hospitals like in the Cayman Islands?

I've heard IBC is good coverage, the air medivac will be an option that the insured can utilize under a plan that they tailor make to fit there own circumstances & requirements.
The hospitals in the Cayman are socialized (like Canada) and medical coverage is mandatory for residents. They have both private and public hospitals with very high standards of care.

I use William Russell for health and travel insurance cover for the whole family. Very flexible - they allowed my current employer to take over payment of my premiums with a minimum of fuss and no extra medical exam.

Have used BlueCross for over twenty years. Signed up for the "major medical plus" plan, $2000 deductable, and have used same only once.
Very good service. You send 'em the bills, they pay quite promptly.
