Mini Tornado!
My house has just been hit by a mini tornado. I live 1 north mile of the final approach into LHR, approx 5d from the threshold. It was a real twister, with lots of leaves, approx 60-70ft high with a very unfortunate seagull suck in the middle. Honestly felt like my house was struck by a pile of bricks.

MINI TORNADO ALSO REPORTED
had report 30 mins ago that 2 villages to west of LHR been hit by a whirlwind. Trees down and branches torn off through the road Dachet and Horton to LHR, quite a sight apparently but lots of CB and black stuff overhead 15mins before.
TAF LHR not indicating too much untoward.

I did my multi IR renewal in the middle of that little lot although a little further north. Heard a report from one guy on frequency who had just met an 85 kt gust. Approach were reporting 40 kt on the ground whilst i was holding, ILS and assm NDBing . What it was in the hold i shall never know because i couldn't work it out. Three weeks of super wx then the black cloud decends on the day of my test

V. heavy squall passed through my place (15 S of LGW) at 1530ish. Conservatory roof did a good impression of that wobbly bridge that fell down in the States in the 1930s. A local farm guy said in the pub last night that he'd seen a "whirlywind" and nobody took him seriously. Must print this thread off for him; he should be able to claim a few pints!
