Thumbs up D Day 55 years ago today

Doesn't time fly when you are having fun, it's so easy to forget the debt civilisation owes to those who gave so much of themselves.

Guys, the evacuation of the allied forces from the beaches of Northern France took place 60 years ago last Sunday.

I’m pretty sure gaunty was referring to the blokes going the other way four years later, almost to the day, with a serious bit of payback on their minds, Meeb.
And yes, Algy B, you’re quite right, it was June 6th 1944, not 1945. But I suspect gaunty wasn’t having problems with remembering whether it was ‘44 or ‘45, but if he’s anything like me, what year this is now!
