Andrew Gino Newton, British Island Airways....
I have been reading a fascinating book 'Rinkagate' on the Thorpe/Scott scandal of the 1970s.
Jeremy Thorpe was the Liberal party leader, and also closet homosexual, who had a clandestine affair with Norman Scott (v ODD character).
Through various intermediaries he was supposed to have arranged for the aforementioned Newton to silence Scott by shooting him. Only Scott's dog was shot, however.
Thorpe was acquitted of all charges at the Old Bailey in 1979, BTW!!!
However, I read that Andrew Newton was a pilot with British Island Airways...
I'd be interested to know if any PPRuNe'rs out there knew him or of him. What was he like? Did anyone think he was the type to get mixed up in this sort of thing?

Be very careful here Swashplate. You've got a potential libel problem here and it could be pprune which got sued (they're the publisher). I would edit your post immediately.
On a lighter note, Private Eye used to refer to this as the 'Shot Dog Affair.'
