All right!
A few years back my roommate found this album. It had a strapping young "captain" with his jacket strung over his shoulder standing in front of a concorde. BA, or Air France, I don't recall. The album title was something to the effect of, "Everyone loves the captain, except the crew". One of the tracks had a rather cool lyric, to the effect of, "If he hasn't got the time to light the seat belt sign...he hasn't got the time to light the seat belt sign, (blah, blah) Hurtleing across the Atlantic..while balancing the book on his knees.. I could leave all my clothes on some far away beach, just the question would be picking the day...Better never than late. I'm sure some one would know the artist. This rather spotty recollection comes from many years ago. Does anyone remember this?

jetjackel,
I believe the song you were referring to ('between the moon and NYC') was by Christopher Cross. Had never heard where the lyrics had come from, but it makes sense!
Another track used to excellent effect in a flying video is 'Headlong' by Queen - used in the 'Phantom Phinale' video produced by a couple of guys at Wattisham as the F4 finished RAF service....fantastic shots of low-level flying over the Falklands!

A few of my favourites:
Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band
Back in the USSR - Beatles
Promised Land - Dave Edmunds
Teach Me How To Fly - ? (Oz group though)
Just realised - these are all over a quarter of a century old, from the good-ol-days just within the haze of living memory - no wonder it's getting harder to drag myself out of bed these mornings !!
