Airport Fire Services

I'll put this here as it seems the most appropriate forum.

Today there has been a major tyre recycling plant fire east of Carlisle and about 1 mile SW of the airport (EGNC). As part of the attendance was one of the appliances from the airport (at 0.57 and the end of this news clip)

BBC NEWS | England | Fumes alert after depot fire

Whilst I can see that airport units would attend an aircraft related incident close to an airport, would it be normal to attend this type of incident (no doubt on request from the County Fire Service)?
It may be that the smoke was affecting operations that allowed the release of the vehicle though.

(it certainly was pumping a lot of water looking at the number of hose lines coupled to it)
