What about a Utility Flying forum? Would cover all the stuff like ag, bush, powerline and pipeline patrol, etc? The guys who do the hairy flying and few ever know about or how to get into it.

Hi SWK - as per my PM, I am awaiting an opening of the clouds, a flash of bright white light and a judgement from on high

A few of us over in Dunnunda & Godzone have been trying to get the same ball rolling for some time with little success.
The answer is always that due to server priorities and the incredible amount of hits that Pprune receives the powers that be are not interested in a Utility/Bush Pilot type of Forum.
I was thinking though that it might be reasonable to request that one of the other forums i.e; this one........... might simply have its name changed. It doesn't appear to be that well patronized anyway.
That would fix the problems for both sides.
I know there is a real need for a forum devoted to Ag and Pprune is the obvious place. Here's something I posted over in D&G questions a couple of nights ago.

Disgruntled Ag-Pilots seek own forum - Threaten Global Starvation if non-compliance!

PPRune was conceived originally for airline types to discuss pay issues and company BS because they almost never all got together at one place to do it in person.
And how its grown. There are forums for ALL branches of aviation. Even non-pilot on-lookers for gawds sake. Yet we, who spend our entire working lives helping to feed and clothe all those other forum lurkers, and doing it in single seat machinery isolated as hell a lot of the time, with few other fellow ag-pilots to talk to except maybe the opposition guys (and who's going to believe anything THEY tell you?('')
) have to be content with a sub-thread in D&G Questions. This is an absolute travesty.
What's going on? Is PPRune controlled by chemical-phobic environmentalist city dwellers in denial about the true source of just about every damn thing they eat, drink and wear.
Shut down the airlines for a year and people save money on travel ('')
Shut down ag-aviation for a year and watch food and fibre prices sky-rocket.
Get with the program PPRune gods. I know you're UK based. The reason there are no more ag aviators in the UK is because your farms are so small and your fighter pilots kept running into them. That doesn't mean the rest of us are irrelevant.
Give us a crack at this will you? If it isn't being used in 12 months, close it down again.

You've got forums for people who don't quite fit into other forums, you bastards wouldn't eat if it wasn'f for us!

I know you're UK based
Wrong!

You will find that shouting tantrums will do little for your campaign, and threats of global starvation likewise - and casting aspertions on heredity matters CERTAINLY will not help you!

Your pleas have woken the sleeping Woomera also. I fear the 'gods' are not well disposed towards you and the campaign.

Hey - who woke ME up.......?

Grrr

NOT uk based? Truly?
Well there you go.
Always felt it had an Anglocentric biase to it though.

Don't think my little tongue in cheek dig will help our cause?

Too bad, 'cause asking nicely hasn't been real successsful either.

Don't you think it would be a nice gesture if you guys would volunteer to vacate this sand-pit so me and my friends could come and play here instead?

The clouds parted and the winds stilled and the word 'from on high' is that you will all have to play in the sand in the bizjets and GA forum. That is where swk's initial post has gone.
