Anti-Aircraft weapons
guys... no bull****.
last week, i went to a SHOOTING RANGE 1 kilometer from the Int Airport of the capital city of XXXXX (not supplying any easy intel to terrorists).
For $100 i shot of 100 rounds of bullets from an ANTI-AIRCRAFT weapon. (admittedly fairly old, but with some kick). The shooting range had no security.
2 days ago, i was stopped and my pocket knife removed, at the very same airport. i know, stupid to leave it in my daypack.
that just sounds so ****ed up to me...

Have you thought about getting in touch with the Local aviation authority to that country- if the country has one and telling them about it.
Best of luck

Shooting ranges close to airports aren't that unusual - I can think of one that's very close to a runway at a major international airport. I think it's only clay pigeon shooting though so an anti-aircraft gun would look at bit out of place.

Thinking about it the Holland and Holland shooting grounds are not that far from LHR - however i dont think a shotgun would do much damage to an aircraft - the big game rifles may do though!!

Even The Biggest Power in The World is unable to protect military trafic at Baghdad Airpot....what could they do anywhere else?
It has been learned by generations of Pilots : you have to descend to land.
On approach/take-off, in many, many, many places ( even in USA!) you are in the range of many types of anti-aircraft weapons.
But don't worry Airports vicinity has been checked and sealed by TSA.
Everything's OK !

Looking at this link the biggest calibre rifle from H&H is a .700 monster for £109,500 - I think it would be capable of shooting a monster

Some of the Holland & Holland "big game" rifles have calibres well over .375" & even with a heavier bullet, will be very accurate at distances way over 150 yds.

A few thousand homing pigeons may be more effective. Funnily enough, I seem to recall that raising pigeons is quite a popular hobby in parts of the ME as well.

Using the correct tables and with a "zeroed" rifle, it is very easy to get the elevation setting that has to be set on the sights.

You could hit it with a .22 at 2000m but damage would be minimal to nothing. The larger calibre anti materiel arms would be the choice if ya had bad intentions. Gruesome thought. Desert Eagle more of a movie weapon than anything serious. How do ya like these petite little actresses/actors waving large calibre firearms around in movies and spraying ammo around the landscape. I reckon the actual recoil from live ammo would instill a little more respect as blanks are all very well but the noise, flash and kick from live rounds is as rump steak is to soya mince.
