Smile Sir Richard and that World Record Attempt..

Widely announced in the UK media during the recent days is Steve Fosset's proposed solo unrefuelled around the world record attempt in one of Bert Rutan's wonderplanes. No prob with this ...so far.... except that it is widely reported that the "standby pilot" is no other than Richard Branson! Equine slurry surely! Now, let's see...he'll need training and testing for an FAA licence, an instrument rating, training and experience operating a gas turbine, then there's climatology, navigation, air law, etc etc etc. Oh Perlease!! bm

Agree with BM. Just media talk no doubt. Which just goes to show that they can write the most awful drivel when the mood takes them. They obviously don't understand even a tad of what you rightly put down are the requirements.

Little wonder that prats like these do the whole media table a lot of no good.

I happened to catch "Richard & Judy" on Friday and Richard Branson was on the show. He said he would be the standby pilot if something happened to Steve.

Cheers

Red face Sir Richard and that World Record Attempt..

Even if they are sponsoring the attempt Torquelink...do you that will absolbe Richard B from holding all the necessary ratings/qualifications? What on Earth has sponsorship got to do with it? bm
