Air Macau Screening Process

Good Day All

I have been invited for the interview and screening process at Air Macau. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the process, exam questions and HR interview. I am applying as Non-type rated. What do they expect to see in the sim for someone who has never flown the A320 before.
Any and all inputs, comments, suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hey mate

Just wanted to know when you found out? Also whats your experience. I also applied and haven't heard as of yet. Cheers

Buy yourself at least two hrs in the sim before the interview if you have no Airbus exp. It feels very different without the need to trim and you should familiarize yourself with the scan. They want to see raw data ILS using the bird, non-precision approach and possibly a visual. I do not have the most update info but that's what they have done in the past.

What Mo To said is pretty much spot on. Book a sim, it appears that's where vast majority of people fail in the selection process - pass rate for the sim now is very low, approx one in five are passing. With some groups, entire batches have been failing. Book a sim, that's all I can say.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately there are no sims in my city and its already cost me quite a bit to book the flight over to HK. I guess I will have to try my luck.
Cheers

Check with CAE in HKG.

Hello Guys,

thanks for the info shared. What is the average time for HR to get back to you once you've applied? (If they do get back to you).

Thanks!
Jumbo.

Are they still requiring a bond of 50.000 usd??

How is life in Macau? Is it doable to live down there as FO non rated?

Who has more info?
Tx

How long took you to get a call/email? I applied about 2 weeks ago NTR F/O, still no call.

Siu Mo To 7th Feb 2016 18:04

Pure luck I guess. I don't understand their logic of selection.
Life in Macau? It is half glass full or half glass empty.
The only good thing is rent is cheaper now.

Yip, still 50k bond.

airQ 21st Sep 2016 00:25

i am doing a bit of research on Air Macau and have a series of questions.
1. what is the take home pay for first year fo's, that are bonded for full 50k.
2. How much in MOP do you get for housing allowance a month.
3. how many days do you work a month on average? Not including the reserve days when you dont fly. Is 9 on 3 off week schedule still a thing?
4. are things still similar to what is being said here? http://www.pprune.org/south-asia-far...cau-truth.html

hello airQ

NXdude 25th Sep 2016 09:37

AirQ

1. what is the take home pay for first year fo's, that are bonded for full 50k.
Average 45k-50kMOP as B2 (low time)
Average 50k-55kMOP as B1 (I think you need 1000hrs turbine)
Average 55k-60kMOP as A (I think you need 1000hrs A320)
These figures include all extras, allowances and per diems.

2. How much in MOP do you get for housing allowance a month.
8000MOP included in figures above.

3. how many days do you work a month on average? Not including the reserve days when you dont fly. Is 9 on 3 off week schedule still a thing?
21 or 22 days work normally. Yes the 9wks/3wks is still here, comes with a 10% salary reduction. You can only apply for it once a year and it is not automatically granted so don't plan on a 9/3 roster right from the start.

4. are things still similar to what is being said here? Air Macau, the truth!
Havent read the whole thread... but the company and place are what you make of them. They have their annoyances and quirks and are far from perfect. But I have seen much worse!

izu:

No it is not. US50k 5 years for non type rated, US30k 3 years type rated. Either you put the money as a bank gaurantee and the OR they will reduce your salary by 6000MOP/month (US10K/yr) for the bond period. After the bond period is finished they will wait one more year to give it back to you (after 6 years non type rated, 4 years type rated). This one year delay in getting it back is only applicable to the salary deduction bond - not to the bank gaurantee.

It is worth noting that you are bonded again for captain upgrade but this time they only accept a 30k/3years bank gaurantee. On upgrade any bond you had as FO falls away and if you had the salary deduction they will pay you out your contribution so far (pro rata at usd10k/year).

Finally note that the bond periods start on the day you are released to line. Training can be a long process (5-8 months) so factor that in as well.

27000mop per month + hotel room or
10000mop per month + hotel room

no per diems or allowances while training
