12.5k usd in Singapore is not that much actually. To make it attractive you should get about 15k. At least IMHO.

I agree but the thing is, i used a fairly low 80 hrs a month, most are doing close to 90 plus if u work an off days, the pay is very good, most are supposedly taking home around $14k

It doesn't seem so bad, but I would not work on days off. By the way how many days off do you get a month? Is it a fixed pattern or random?
So you get about 18000 sgd before tax, that works out at about 16000 sgd after tax right?

It sounds damn good to me. If you're married with kids, no money is enough for you. Having said that, 15-16k net income is very good even by SIN standards

That's 15k or 16k singapore dollars, which is about 12.5k USD. I agree that's not bad money at all, but defeneatly not so good in singapore where a rent will set you back about 3k or 4k USD.

Yes rent will put u back $3k for a 2 bedroom condo. But other living costs are not that much higher than other parts in the region. The off days go like: 5 earlies, 2 off. Followed by 5 lates, 4 off. And after this u do 5 on (earlies i guess) and 5 off and back to 5 earlies and 2 off.... This is a very attractive part of the package. I believe ID after 6 months. 25 days leave i'm told

That sounds quite promising. How is the flying? Do you have a lot of red eye flying? Any overnights?
How do you get to work? Taxi? Bus? Because I know that getting a car is difficult and very expensive.

Not really sure about the overnights, but there are like i mentioned earlier, 5 late days, so i presume these could mean overnights also. They're apparently doing like 80hrs on average, as for transport to work, it would be taxi, unless u stay in front of a MRT thats close to the airport.

True for this month, but new aircraft arriving and frequencies increasing/network expanding.

Singapore CAA bringing in fatigue management for all local operators which may limit annual hours but should be less tiring.

No more commuting contracts, but if you are on one already you can keep it. Not sure about part time but full time employees would be preferred.

Basically, decide if it suits you. Plenty of people have walked in with a CPL and 200 hours total time, got what they wanted and moved on to greener pastures. A few retired legacy airline pilots have got a few extra years flying in before turning 65.

On balance quite a reasonable option if you don't want China or the sand pit.

That's good. Are you able to take your leave on blocks of 5 days to fit between your days off? Or you have to take them all together?

Tgw123 when you do this night flights departing SIN between 7-9pm are they usually 2 long sectors or 4 sectors?
During your 5 days on, do they change you between earlies and lates or you do 5 in a row of either earlies or lates?

Yes u can take them every other month i'm told, so every other month u have the option of 10 block days off. Overnights are 2 sec flights, they rarely do 4 sec flights, the early days are early days, late days are late days, apparently this works very well

Going into the operations. How are the turnarounds? 30 min I guess? What about the fuel policy, do they give you freedom or are quite strict about extra fuel?
What are the shortest and longest flights you have? What's the average sectors you do a month?

Tgw123 thanks again for the info. I see the actual rotation is 5/2 5/4, 52/ 5/5. That makes more sense (although is not so good) compared to what was said before of 5/2 5/4 5/5.
Regarding the leave, why do you have to be back in Singapore 2 or 3 days before flying? Is arriving the day before not enough?
Can you shed some more light on those transitions between earlies and lates? Are the changes happening within the 5 days period?
I usually fly plenty of 4 sector days a month so that wouldn't be a problem, unless they are really long 4 sectors.
When you are on lates, are all the flights on that bracket from about 7-9pm coming back 4-6am?

Regarding the 3 days back in SIN from leave; how can a rostering dept. check when I come back? Maybe they can if I travel on a company aircraft, but no one can force me to pick a phone during my annual leave! Ok, maybe I am a bit naive...

Btw EK is doing something similar. They want you back a bit earlier to be aclimatised. So you come back from leave to adapt to the UAE timezone and the first flight you get brings you back to the timezone where you came from a few days before.

Wow those are some nasty transitions but I guess I could manage them. What I think isn't fair is having to be there 3 days before. If I have 12 days off and I wanna go to Europe that would basically mean I can only be home for 6 or 7 days max. I'd always go back a day before my duty to be rested, but forcing me to be there 3 days before it's just b*****t. That may just be a deal breaker.
