VNA doesn't even fly to the US so why don't you guys take your irrelevant argument somewhere else?

This place isn't perfect and there's an idiot or two on most fleets, but the overall operating standard here is a LOT higher than a few other big carriers in the region, who seem to have no trouble maintaining their JAA and US certifications.

It is not an irrelevant argument,Yellow Contrail is actually making a valid point. He is telling us his opinion why he thinks VNA or any other Asian or African airline of the same 'standards' is able to fly in USA or Europe.
I agree with him in general but I wouldnt say that I know USA is no1 in corruption,i think it is a bit too much to make such a statement with confidence, especially knowing that there are so many other corrupt countries in the world. I would easily put USA as one of the world's most corrupted countries in foreign affairs politics but I do not believe they are corrupted in other sectors as aviation for example.

And by the way if there was one idiot or two on their fleets I dont think there would be any discussion on this thread. Even the best airlines in the world have one or two idiots in their fleets. The rumours unfortunately are that there are many idiots in their fleets, not just one or two.

some questions for insiders:

Is VNA looking for ATR72 F/O?
If so, what will be the opportunities for experienced F/O? ( any chance to get a command course quickly or be sent on A320?)

thanks

Tyrod this is a difficult question to answer because this company is a bit unpredictable. One day they are looking for crews, the next day they are thinking to get rid of all foreign crews. Latest rumour is that they will stop all contracts for foreign crews before the summer. Can someone confirm this?

Not very likely for expat Captains. They are already upgrading locals with less time than previously required. Several of the local TREs I have talked to say they have heard nothing about lowering requirements even further. And they said the Viet training and supervisory pilots would be very much against it.

F/Os are at more risk because of the influx of cadets but nothing official yet. Just rumors.

Parc, Rishworth and DPI are negotiating new contracts with VAC this year. I believe Rishworth is the first to expire, in May.

It is pretty much expected that VAC will push for a pay cut, especially since the locals have already taken one. We'll know more in a few months.

ClearedToCrush 19th Feb 2013 13:08

My guess is that they will keep foreign captains and get rid of foreign fo's. The climate regarding foreign crews is not so good lately. Anyone heard of this 'succesful' approach recently of VNA in Paris followed by a go-around? Rumours say that one of the foreign fo's saved the aircraft by reminding the captain to press the TOGA. What was VNA's response to this? I heard that they grounded him. :ugh:

squarecrow 19th Feb 2013 14:47

its on Page 1 of this thread. Ya heard he didnt engage TOGA just pushed da leavers forward a bit so aircraft dived instead of GA.

ClearedToCrush 19th Feb 2013 15:54

Yes i know that approach was in November.I heard that this is a new one :ugh:

777 guys TERMINATED

Gentlemen,
Any inside on the story about that approach into CDG last year?
I hear the viet guys were "punished" and the aussie TRE terminated. WTF! :=
Another aussie capt terminated.

What happens to the guys that:
1 Flew a 777 out of London Heathrow with 10 tons under minimum flight plan fuel
2 Flew a VIP into Washington Dulles in such an erratic manner ATC had to put them aside and then clear the skies for "Vietnam 1"
3 Turned a 777 into a lawn mower in Paris, yes, after knocking down a few lights

Seems these company is gearing up some interesting safety record. :}

Good job for firing the sensitive guy that called for a GO AROUND :ugh:

Gentlemen, this is just wrong!
Whats going on in that fleet? :yuk:
:*

BayBong 28th Mar 2013 15:24

Didn't they renew a few B777 FOs ?

Unless it was for short term, or they plan to terminated their contract prematurely when it suits them ?
