As for the questions, let me see-
There were some really simple questions on triangles
Then some questions on relative velocity (2 cars starting from A to B)
Some questions on conversions-
41000ft in Km
15m in feet
This all was the easy part

Lot of questions from technical and especially electrical system-
If we have to convert 28V DC to 200/115AC then what should we use
There were some questions on HP cock and LP cock????
One question from triple spool engine
Procedure for shutting down turbine engine- HP first or LP first
When thrust is reversed on Turboprop which gasses are reversed, Hot or cold
Where is fuel flow measured in a jet engine (with diagram)
Climb gradient for 2 segment
Static is blocked, what will altimeter read while descending/ascending
CG is forward of range, what will be effect on range and SFC
Metar and TAF readings
The regs part was weird though-
Can you shoot sids and stars with gps in india
What is the RNP for some GNSS approach
WHen does the air hostess need to fasten her seat belt
Whose rules does India follow- Europe, Australia, USA or ICAO Annex Sumthin
An airway is marked FL80, what does it mean?

smurf84 10th Jan 2012 15:38

Good on you, Mentat. Regarding your query on the other thread, you're pretty much good to go to collect your roll number before 25th January. I don't think Mahantesh would send out anymore emails to those candidates who have acknowledged.

Mentat 11th Jan 2012 12:40

Thanks smurf..will be going tomorrowto colect my roll no.

Mentat 13th Jan 2012 14:07

I sent my resume 5 times and twice i submitted hard copies..finally i got a call this time..all I can say is be persistant..

superdunkaroos 14th Jan 2012 05:04

The level of professionalism is very clear from the way these guys at spice have handled the recruitment so far and the appalling grammar used by a senior HR, sometimes it makes me think that these guys are no better than the babus sitting in the DGCA, only difference being the number of air conditioners running in their offices.

PEC 14th Jan 2012 05:18

only difference being the number of air conditioners running in their offices.
You are forgetting the pan stains and the chai ka cups at the DGCA!

smurf84 14th Jan 2012 06:51

Talk about their level of professionalism - last I heard, recruitment in SG comprises of only two stages. Written exam and interview. No Simulator assessment, psychometric test?

beinghuman 14th Jan 2012 07:33

Was it 20 thousand before ? I wonder where the 25 thousand is going if they aren't conducting any Psychometry or Simulator test.

smurf84 14th Jan 2012 08:00

Yes, the fee was 20,000 in the previous attempt. This time around it is 25000 and I assume nearly hundred candidates have been called for the exam. I wouldn't bother doing the math. But I'm sure it covers a month's pay for 20 odd Trainee First Officers.

tolip111111 14th Jan 2012 08:13

you should be glad there is no sim check, cause for the sim check they charge 75K!!!:ugh::{

beinghuman 14th Jan 2012 09:01

These companies have a 'take it or leave it' attitude. I wish we could file an RTI for money asked but unfortunately Pvt companies don't come under the purview of RTI.

IF only we all could get together and make it a point not to go for this company who is a complete fraud. Everyone knows how the exams are conducted and who eventually gets in. I knew too, still I gave the exam thinking I may get lucky.

Common sense prevails.

Good luck to everyone :ok:

smurf84 14th Jan 2012 09:37

75000 for the Simulator check???

I have my doubts whether they still conduct it.

beinghuman - In these desperate times, low-time pilots will simply 'take it', whatever comes their way. At the end of the day, we succumb to it. Nepotism exists in every other organization and has a strong presence felt in the aviation industry all over the world. To fight it out is a big task and I reckon only a handful will be up for it. The only way out of this frustration is to keep working hard and when the time comes, persistence will prevail.

tolip111111 14th Jan 2012 09:45

i am one of the guys whose nt going for the spice recruitment even after getting the call!! Simply cause i dont have the 25K or 75K to spend on a stupid exam, whose outcome is well known.. Id rather wait for a company like jet to come up with another recruitment drive! no other option! people who have money will keep paying and keep gettng conned!

bayblade 14th Jan 2012 10:00

@tolip111111, i'm sure 10% of the pilots may get in due to merit.
whats the harm in trying for a place in that 10%! i say so because there does not seem any compay recruiting this year apart ofcourse from the cae, but to be called for their exam is another fate of luck!:ugh:

something better than nothing isn't it? correct me if i'm wrong,i'd love to be wrong ;)

on that note good luck to all guys giving the exam.:ok:

smurf84 14th Jan 2012 10:56

bayblade - I couldn't agree with you more. Jet Airways is packed to the rafters for the next one year, Air India and Kingfisher are in the dumps, IndiGo is all about that one lucky call in the near future and Go Air looks to be maintaining a low profile in terms of recruitment for non-type rated CPL holders. For now and according to one of the members on Pprune, this could be the last recruitment drive for Spice Jet till 2013.

Yes, a few are recruited on merit basis. The rest is the same old story known to many. Anyway, good luck to all the pilots (who don't belong to the influential lot) appearing for the Spice Jet exam. It would be very kind of you guys to post some of the questions on this thread after the 31st of January.

SuperflyTNT 14th Jan 2012 13:18

Where is the exam being held on the 31st ? Any idea as to how many people will be writing ?

smurf84 15th Jan 2012 03:16

SuperflyTNT - Are you giving the exam? I believe it was held at Indraprastha College in Gurgaon last year. Regarding the number of candidates, I think we'll leave that figure for the 31st. Expect a hundred or more!

addy1847 15th Jan 2012 04:59

its 327 to be very precise

smurf84 15th Jan 2012 08:42

addy1847 - 327 candidates to be very precise? Where did you dig out that figure from? Why I ask, cause that information isn't known till the exam is completed.

robin.pereira 15th Jan 2012 09:05

hi guys,

a little birdy told me about this forum wher I could find an active discussion on the spice jet exam to be held in 2 weeks.

luckily, I've been selected for th exam. this is my second airline exam ever since I failed the cae-indigo written test last year. it isn't rigged like many of the members talk about the spice jet exam. by the way, is this exam really for those candidates with major contacts? how many did they recruit when they had an exam in march 2011? i know 2 friends who got in without any contact. i read this post by a member named addy stating ther would be 300 odd candidates to write the exam this time.....which sounds so unreal.

can anybody beat his/her source of information.????? :)

Mentat 15th Jan 2012 09:55

327? I heard it was closer to 400..

addy1847 15th Jan 2012 10:03

Had a conversation with mahentesh, initially there were 700 people who were shortlisted, only 327(thats what he said) are being called, and i have no idea on what basis they have done it

smurf84 15th Jan 2012 11:36

Wow. SpiceJet HR actually gives away all these details to anyone who speaks to them over the phone?

bayblade 15th Jan 2012 12:46

funnily enough I end up with " i'm busy at the moment call later" :ouch:

superdunkaroos 15th Jan 2012 13:25

People who have already collected their roll numbers, I don't live in Delhi so I was wondering whether an overnight stay might be required or is it generally a quick process?

Planning on going there either 23rd or the 24th.

addy1847 15th Jan 2012 14:14

Chillax man, that is not something that would be asked in the exam or confidential enough that you would only find when you open up your question booklet.i know that you can't simply pick up the phone, dial his number and ask him "tell me how many people are appearing for the exam". you will be meeting him personally when you go to collect your admit card, try to establish a friendly and informative conversation.

smurf84 15th Jan 2012 14:28

Alright. Just spare some time on this thread and let us know the outcome of this exam and the questions.

captkirk3000 15th Jan 2012 15:20

SpiceJet Expat FO's

Is India still not hiring expat FO's?

addy1847 16th Jan 2012 03:37

@superdunkaroos-bud it would take probably between 5-10 mins, but you may have to wait for an hour or more for meeting mahentesh. I am also not from Delhi, i managed to reach there, got the admit card, and returned back the same day. what i would recommend is go to the office bit early

@captkirk3000- i am pretty sure(i may be wrong) Indian Airlines are not hiring expat co-pilots any more. their is a big bunch of CPL holders(between 6000-7000) trying to get onto the right seat

smurf84 16th Jan 2012 03:46

As per the DGCA, all expat pilots in India are to be phased out by mid-2013.

robin.pereira 16th Jan 2012 05:12

Addy or mentat, could one of you please tell me what time is the corporate office in gurgaon open till? I am going to Delhi tomorrow to submit my documents.....and I plan to return to Mumbai the same night ...thanks

addy1847 16th Jan 2012 08:58

I don't know the official working hours but i left their office around 5.15 pm, most of the people including mahentesh were there

superdunkaroos 17th Jan 2012 04:34

Guys who have already collected their Admission ticket, whats the time and duration of the exam?

SuperflyTNT 17th Jan 2012 06:39

Has the exam date been confirmed for the 31st of Jan ? Is that what is given on the admit card ?

addy1847 17th Jan 2012 10:12

Exam timings 11AM-1230PM but reporting time given as 9AM. Weird !
Yes its on 31st Jan
