SIN-PER-SIN is operated on a SIN based aircraft.

Friend working there tells me they need both but don't have the training capacity... 2nd hand info though.

Tigers,

What's your average block hours per month? If you reach the 950 hours in, lets say, 10 months that means you have an extra month off?

Happy landings

grouchynojob 11th Apr 2011 12:03

Would any Tiger F/os be kind enough to post an average months roster please.

Many thanks,
GNJ

I have not heard of any American pilots or FAA licence holders being hired by Tiger Airways. I will be extremely amazed and surprised if Tiger Airways hired Singaporeans (there are many too) who are FAA licence holders.

There are American pilots (FAA ATP Licence holder) hired by SIA and those are Captains. If you are are holder of FAA ATP Licence with commanding heavy-jet hours, licence conversion to CAAS is very easy.

There were FAA licenses pilots in Tiger, although they left. Some went to JetStar. I'm not sure, but I think you have to do the same as a JAA license holder: Singaporian air law examn, and - if type rated already - the A320 technical test. If not type rated, you will do the conversion within Tiger.

I didn't hear of any problems for Americans. There were also Mexicans and other Americans in Tiger.

hth,
Dani

Looks like United States FAA Pilot License is highly remarkable and valuable in Singapore!

If you have a current FAA licence with an A320 endorsement you will have no problem getting a CAAS licence, as long as you are to be employed by a company on the Singaporean AOC eg Tiger, who must do your training. You will need to do the Air Law exam, and the A320 technical. Both are piss easy if you have the cheat sheets that are floating about.

Make sure you have, before you arrive:

Licence
Stamped logbook
English Proficiency test
Current ME CIR
Proof of HPL exam
Supporting paperwork from the Airline you will be working for ie Tiger.

All current, all on the same licence. They will not accept bits and pieces of different licences.

Each individual case seems to be treated slightly different, it's just a matter of digging up all the crap they want but if you have all of the above you will be ok.

What about the Singaporean Class I? I've been told by the AME in ST Medical Services that I should present my last two full medical reports just to apply for the Class I with them. It's quite difficult to get those reports, are they that adamant with that? Any other way to approach the issue?

Thanks!

hahahahaha... Good one!

Basically CAAS see the FAA license as holding insufficient theoretical knowledge.

FAA ATPL holders will have to do:
- Air Law
- A320 Tech (if you already have the rating, but only if you have less then 2,000hrs on type)
- Human Performance
- Aircraft Performance (This one has had a lot of FAA guys crashing and burning, it is the hardest by far. Don't under estimate it.)

btw JAR to CAAS:
- Only have to sit Air Law

On the Class 1 medical, you MUST get the last two medical reports. No way round it. They do ask for last two ECGs and last chest X-ray, but after I handed the two medical reports over they said it was sufficient. Further note, it takes on average three weeks for them to issue the initial Class 1 medical.

The CAAS used to require an RT Licence too.
FAA Licence had to get that FCC licence or has that also changed.

Well a hotel wont cost you that much if you choose the right area. Galong has cheap hotels. A friend of mine, his sim partner stayed in a hooker hotel for 2 months at 50 bucks a night. I think he had to pay extra for the girls though.

age limit

I can not understand why 45 y.o is the limit for many Companies if you are a highly qualified professional.

I do not understand those Companies.:\

Why?:uhoh:

What is the reason? :(

Is it something related to C.R.M? :suspect:

socalflyer 10th May 2011 16:21

Latest from Tiger: recruitment has been suspended UFN.

News anyone?

:ok:

As 411A is no longer with us can I suggest that at the age of 51 and still a F/O with not that many hours then perhaps a career change should be considered!;)

Latest from Tiger: recruitment has been suspended UFN.
Possibly because they now have the required number of pilots that they set out to employ.
