Not so good...

The contract is not being followed over here.... they always blame it on the Chinese. Housing allowance is always late by days. There was no per diem paid during the three weeks I was in Shenzhen. Also no set schedule each month.

E170/190 Positions in the Gulf

Flight Crew Solutions have a few contracts in the Gulf for the E170/190. Contact them on [email protected]

I decided not to pursue it, due to my personal research and negative things I have found about being in China. Overall, with the package they were offering, I personally couldn't do it...

Good luck to those that go for it! I'm actively pursuing a position with J-Air in Japan for the E170 captains via Parc aviation for those that are also looking for jobs....

You and about 500 other pilots... :}

Good luck,,, I imagine that E170 CA gig will be VERY popular, and will be increasingly difficult to get without time in type (which I think you said you had).

As the airline market tightens here in the U.S., many more will look overseas.

looking for kunpeng airlines

Hi Everybody,
i am looking for a contact to send my Cv to kunpeng airlines .
I am rated on Emb 170 with 3000 hrs on type.
Cat IIIa
any help to send a cv o to call anybody in China ?
Thank you in advance

bgonzalez689 3rd Jul 2008 15:39

As far as I know Kunpeng isn't accepting CV's directly. Pilot's are crewed by WASINC. I was recruited by WASINC so I'm not sure if anyone else is contracting crews for Kunpeng.

What I have found thus far

It is kind of nice to hear so many people in the same situation however, little scary because we are all in the dark. The information I have gathered comes from roughly two resources: manager of recruiting at WASINC, current WASINC employee flying CRJ in Xi’an.

The rapid upgrade program for ERJ-190 (also same for CRJ but going away soon I guess)....its a 3 year contract with an opt out of contract after the 2nd year with 90 days of notice. For non rapid upgrade capt, it is a 2 year contract with opt out after first 6 months with 90 day notice. By opt out I mean there is suppose to be zero financial penalty (doubt they’ll want to back of course) and I will look closely for this in contact. rapid upgrade FO means you are hired as a captain. however the pay is on a different scale. I dont have my notes in front of me but this is roughly what the recruiting manager at WASINC told me over phone.
While in training: 5800/month
IOE: 6100/month
1st year: 6400
2nd year: 6800
3rd year: 7100 (which is 1 st year for non rapid ugprade captain)

As far as I can tell comparing to other airline pay scales for similar airplane, it is a good deal considering first ~85,000 (or is it 85.500 for you CPA) is tax free with US. KP airlines is suppose to pay your Chinese taxes (again will watch for in a contract) I have a whole bunch of papers I received from WASINC and I would recommend going to their website inquiring to see what data they can send you. I have in front of me some info on position, benefits, and tax info on expat status.
I am sure most of you have seen the posts I have seen in various sites and I am seeing two sides the story and I am trying to sort out the two (most think WASINC is good, some think KP is decent, some seem to have had a terrible experience with KP, both worth the investigation). Also, from WASINC manager came 4 emails (only talked with three of em) of people who were willing to talk to potential candidates. All of them are still on the CRJ so its hard to tell if things will change with 190.
but one guy told me he was getting 12-18 days off despite 9 day MIN. Of course it could all change so good luck to all of us. From our emails it seems to be they are being honest and telling it how it is, not how WASINC has asked them to tell it.

I do not work for WASINC but have applied and been in contact with WASINC. they told me they are going to do phone interviews once they get a training date secured for the 190. Currently, wasinc has 3 pilots in Switzerland in training (transferred from CRJ) although they "think" training will be in Singapore sometime in Oct.

I have been told over and over again, read the contract carefully and I have printed the data i have been sent regarding pay, housing (in addition to above numbers, travel allowance which is in addition, and loyality pay).

Please feel free to correct or add info but this is what i have for now.

Good luck

I am another experienced pilot who is SIC “typed” in 170 and I know that they are interested due to lack of pilots and need for them. Whether I am offered a job or go, is another thing a? By the way, ERJ 170/190 is a nice airplane if that were the only factor (those simple times have long gone ;-)

Thanks for your info

"The rapid upgrade program for ERJ-190 (also same for CRJ but going away soon I guess)."

I just looked WASINC website a couple of days ago, the rapid upgrade for CRJ already gone, at least it is not on their website anymore.

bulldog3, could you please specify if they are requiring any PIC time on any Jet to be considered for rapid upgrade for ERJ-190. I mean can you apply for this program if you have no PIC ject time, but you do have time as SIC on ERJ-190.

Thanks

bulldog3 8th Jul 2008 20:37

well, i have not been interviewed via telephone nor offered a job but when I talked to them on the phone, I was suprised to hear they were interested in me with only SIC time in the ERJ-170 (time on the 170/190 really being the key). The recruiting guy said they were looking at a base of 2500TT but this is all unofficial.

now if they had a bunch of 190 captains apply (seems unlikely for previously mentioned reasons), we'd be out of luck mate. I will again, be watching and reading a contract if it comes my way, but my approach to this is it is an upgrade coming sooner than later for me, the money is just fine for such position, and finally my girlfriend and I both love to travel so to live asian is a great thing.

cheers mates!

Shenzhen Airlines’ domestic regional carrier Kunpeng Airlines has ordered five Embraer 190s and hopes to eventually get Chinese Government approval for a total of 50.

A senior source at Kunpeng says China’s National Development Reform Commission (NDRC) has granted approval for the airline to purchase five E-190s and the first is to be delivered in late August.

The source says an agreement was signed late last year with Embraer for 50 E-190s but the carrier is still waiting on NRDC approval for the other 45.

the source confirms Kunpeng will be sourcing pilots from overseas and from Shenzhen Airlines.:ok::D

Kunpeng/Shenzhen

HI, If you have A319/320 PIC, I think you should apply for the mother airline: Shenzhen Airlines. They need Captains for their 319/320.
I think age limit to start working is 57 or 60 but not sure at all, and there are always exceptions.
Go to www.wasinc.net and check and highlights of the contract and apply there too, I dont think they charge 45USD for application right now.

I have some friends their and they love it. day trips, great money......oh and very very cheap to live there.

Good luck.:ok:

Any updates?:*

If you have ERJ170 left seat time, have you considered applying to NAS AIR in Saudi..... They are paying crazy amounts due to a lack of crew.....

havent heard much

Iflyfr8 1st Aug 2008 21:54

Anyone know if they are still hiring CRJ CAs or is it all EMB crews now? How is the cost of living compared to USA? I would really appreciate talking to someone who is over there on contract.

Hoggin 24th Sep 2008 10:12

Kunpeng

I would do your homework before getting involved in anything related to Kunpeng. Kunpeng is a very bad airline and they DO NOT care about you one bit. Wasinc's hands are really tied and they cannot give the pilots what kunpeng will not allow ie:pay, vacation, visas. Wasinc seems to be a good company to work with and they are trying to improve the situation but there are limits. As I said before you do not want to get involved with Kunpeng. If you are interested in any more information just ask and I can tell stories after stories.

A-V-8 8th Oct 2008 12:49

I have been considering relocating to China as well. Have the guys in Kungpen been promised any type of flow through to Kungpen? Details? Are you guys jumping ship to other places in China because every thing I have seen here is that places in China are not interested in you unless you have time on type?

rcl7700 8th Oct 2008 15:19

Hoggin,

Would love to hear the stories. Also considering this job.

Thanks
