Singapore Airlines DEC

I hear from the rumor mill that SQ is planning DEC recruitment for its B787 fleet once again after many years. Pure manpower shortage is what I understood.
Let’s wait n see …

Won't be suprised, there is a huge vacuum that has been created by the pilot shortage in the USA. Almost everywhere they are hiring pilots if you are an experienced boeing or airbus pilot then this is the time to be alive.

Huge shortage in the middle east and asia as well.

UnfortuNately on the other side low hr pilots still facing difficulties.

Singapore Airlines DEC

Hello,
Information on the direct entry command conditions are sparse.
Anyone in the know?

Any expat Cpt working for Singapore could send me a private message, I'd really appreciate.

I have 15 years Captain experience in eastern europe, commuting contract on A320 6 on / 4 off.
I spent about 3 days every 10 days at home in Finland with the family and I'm thinking about moving away to get more quality time with wife and kid.
average net income at the moment after tax is about 15'000 $USD per month with rent and expense roughly around 5-6'000$USD monthly.
I'd like to compare my situation now with someone on the short haul fleet in Singapore to give me an idea before committing.
Many Thanks
Oliver

My experience when working for SIA was that any time a "gap" appeared in ones roster they immediately filled it with "standby" days to prevent you leaving Singapore. Never a hope of commuting ever.

And Singapore now is one of the most ridiculous places to live cost wise, and with the local terms, expect at least USD$5,000 a month to go to renting a small 2 bedder in pasir ris, tampines, etc.

About SG$3,000 a month per kid for international school. But it is an ok gig if you decide to get PR status, put your kids in local school and NEVER think of owning a car, the price of the tax needed to own a car for 10 years, which I think is called a CEO or Smth is about SG$130,000 now, NOT INCLUDING THE COST OF THE CAR.

And no commuting, they put random standbys in to keep u on the tiny red dot.

Why would it be so bad to commute? I don’t understand what the problem is.

It was pure bloody mindedness by the rostering department who, with one exception, Nancy, went out of their way to make life as difficult as possible for aircrew, especially expats.

Regarding PR, in theory: https://www.ica.gov.sg/reside/PR/

In reality, don't count on getting PR in SG unless you are married to a Singaporean or extremely important to Singapore Inc. Which as a pilot you are not. You will get a long term visit pass or LTVP. with a work permit.

15000 a month in Eastern Europe? I call that BS!
