FAA Fines Malaysian Airlines US$110,000

FAA Fines Malaysian Airlines $110,000
RENTON, Wa. -- The Federal Aviation
Administration assessed a $110,000
civil penalty against Malaysian
Airlines of Subang, Malaysia, for
violating U.S. Department of
Transportation hazardous materials
regulations.
The FAA alleged that on July 5, 2001,
Malaysia improperly offered a passenger
service unit with an attached and
undeclared chemical oxygen generator
for transportation by air. The
hazardous materials were not declared,
the crew was not notified the flight
was carrying such materials and the
shipment was in packages that did not
meet specifications for its transport.
Oxygen generators are prohibited from
being transported as cargo on passenger
aircraft.
The shipment flew on a passenger
carrying flight from Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia via Narita, Japan to Los
Angeles. The shipment was transported
via ground transportation from Los
Angeles to Seattle, and delivered to
the Boeing Commercial Repair Facility
where it was opened. The FAA alleged
that Malaysia offered, accepted, and
transported hazardous materials that
were not properly classed, described,
packaged, marked, labeled, or in a
condition for shipment required by the
hazardous materials regulations. FAA
also alleged that Malaysia did not
provide required emergency response
information.
This announcement of the civil penalty
is made in accordance with the FAA's
policy of releasing information to the
public on newly issued enforcement
actions in cases involving penalties of
$50,000 or more.

This is nothing new to MAS crew.
This airline had been carrying hazardous products on a passenger
flight for the last 10 years, where no other airline would want to carry.
Just point a geiger meter to any MAS crew and see how radioactive they are.

'MAS crew' featured in pornographic VCD
KUALA LUMPUR - Two police reports have been lodged over a pornographic
VCD which purportedly features Malaysia Airlines (MAS) cabin crew
members.
The 40-minute VCD's opening scene shows four MAS cabin crew personnel
laughing while coming out of a plane's galley, the Malay Mail reported
yesterday.

The scene then shifts to what is believed to be a hotel room in Narita,
Tokyo, where a couple are captured on the camera having sex.
In the opening scene, the woman performing the sexual act is shown still
clad in the MAS cabin crew uniform.
MAS has denied that its current cabin crew members were involved in the
sex scene.
The airline's management and the female crew member seen coming out of
the galley in the VCD - not the one engaged in the sexual act - have
lodged separate police reports.
The VCD cover carries a picture of a naked woman, who some say resembles
a popular singer of the 1980s, said the tabloid.
Several copies of the VCD were seized by the Ampang Jaya police during
their on-going raids on pirated VCDs.
The Ampang Jaya police chief confirmed the police had seized several of
the VCDs in their crackdown on pirated VCDs in recent months.
The VCD is believed to have been made in January 1999, but its copies
have been in circulation for only about two months.
The VCDs, priced at RM10 (S$4.70) to RM25 each, are reported to be
selling like hot cakes in the Klang Valley.
