The best advice i can give to low hour pilots at the moment is to get into flight instruction in their home countries and wait for better times ahead while building time. Better times will come, make no mistake, sooner or later, like they always did.
Thing is that there are tons of highly experienced pilots out of a job at the moment with previous experience which would also make them eligible for entry level positions. For example most of my friends did the single engine GA thing in the African bush or flew Caravans in Indonesia, did paradrops in Europe, etc. before moving onto the airlines many years ago. These jobs still exists, however there is an infinite queue of guys and gals trying to get (back) in. I'm starting to see the same for the flight instructor positions as well by the way, so be quick and if you are not instructor rated yet try to find a school which will give you the position after having trained with them.
