Looking to become FO in China
Hello,
I am a Commercial Pilot w/ multi-engine and instrument ratings. I have over 500 TT and am looking to make a plan to apply for the high-paying a China airlines FO positions. My question is will the recruiters work with you to obtain the type ratings and will they work with you if you have less hours?
Also, anyone who is currently working for one of these airlines, please chime in and share your experience. I’ve heard the best situations and the worst so far! Thanks!

Not an expert, I've just read a lot of posts about this. I don't think China is a place for an ex pat to start a career, they tend to want captains with 6000h. If you want to end up in China, look to get an FO job at home, work your way up to Captain then apply when you've got a decent amount of command time. I've heard the medicals are hard and the terms and conditions brutal.

Business is all about supply and demand. There is a ready supply of local FO’s, however a shortage of experienced local Captains.
I think you you to reconsider your career path.

BTW, a T/R without hours on type (500 to 1000 hrs, at least) is worthless, and also you must be current with a valid proficiency check and instrument rating.
Anyway, good luck and keep trying.
