StarLux Airlines to purchase 17 A350s - Taipei Times

Can Taiwan support another biggish airline?

77W is old technology compared to the A350. With 777x's yet released, it makes sense for Starlux to choose the A350-1000s. Airbus commonality probably factored into the decision to get the A359s instead of 787s. It's definitely ambitious to say the least for Chairman Chang to place such a sizable WB order when they haven't even started operations. Only time will tell if the Taiwanese market can provide the demands......Chang did say in a press conference that its customer base will be drawn mainly from SE Asia, and that his goal is to make TPE a commuting hub just like DXB. IMO Chang has a unique vision for Starlux's future, and it's very interesting to see how this plays out!
