Flying Opportunities in Asia

Hi there!

My name is Gareth and I'm a student pilot in Canada. I've always been interested in the east and was wondering what kind of opportunities are available for bush pilots or pilots looking to fly smaller aircraft to remote locations? I've been trying to find information for such opportunities for quite some time but haven't come up with anything aside from airline jobs and other large aircraft careers. I've always been incredibly interested in living in areas such as Vietnam, Thailand, or even Japan and would love to be able to make a career for myself in the area!

There's a float plane operator in Vietnam who do occasionally hire expat captains but they have pretty high minimums and they only employ Vietnamese FOs. Thailand, forget about it, locals only, due work permit issues. Japan, I don't know but I am unaware of any expats working there except in the big jets.

Basically mate it's Indonesia or bust, and even that is a lot harder than it used to be.
Canada is basically the promised land for GA bush pilot jobs anyway though, why you want to come way out east if that's your thing?

Hey mate, hope you are well, there are few airlines operating caravans and twin otter in indo, but I would suggest get some pic time in Canada before heading over. You will find it a lot more easier to get work.

Singapore: Seletar Flying Club
Malaysia (Johor): Elite Flying Club | Learn to fly here | Johor, Malaysia | Pilot Training | Flying School | Flight Adventures | Plane Hire
