The problem is Taiwan is not ICAO so there is an issue about your type rating there and the validity of the hours if you tried to go some place else but i stand to be corrected.

Your hours in EVA are valued just as it would be in any ICAO country, you might not be able to transfer your type rating to your FAA/EASA licence in which wouldn't matter that much anyways cause most major airlines would want you to redo the type based on their SOPs from scratch....if you wanna get heavy time, emirates, EVA and Qatar are the only options for narrow-body guys to upgrade to the wide-body. If 5 years is considered fast track...then it is fast track, but 5 years is what I've heard is the going time frame from buddies flying there at EVA ..no complaints though!!
