VFR flying in the Beijing area

Hi,

I currently hold an EASA PPL (A) SEP. I am a student at a UK university and next academic year I will be an Exchange Student at Bei Shi Da (北师大) in Beijing. My course is all about Linguistics & Far Eastern Studies (so not to do with aviation) however, while I’m in Beijing, I would really like the opportunity to have some VFR flying. I know I will have to convert my licence and write some ground exams. What are the best flying clubs in the area and at which airfields? I have already noted about Badaling (八达岭), Douzhuang (豆庄) & Miyun (密云). Has anyone here got any experience of flying VFR light traffic in China? In terms of flying clubs, I only know Zi You Fei Xiang (自由飞翔) which I believe is based at Douzhuang (豆庄).

Please tell me your suggestions and if anyone here is part of AOPA China, I would also like to know your views as well.

Thank you,
