Living in Shanghai

I'm considering an initial short term contract based in Shanghai, possibly followed up by something long term.

Can anyone give me some background on life in the city?

At present I'm looking at apartment rentals, would need a two bed apartment, leisure pursuits and whether there is a sizeable expat community to socialise with, at least until my Mandarin improves to enable interaction with the local population.

The indication is that I'll need to leave the country every three months due to visa issues, can anyone explain this?

Hi men.

One question.

you will move to China for short term only? Or you are thinking to stay long time later on?

I am thinking in China also, but I dont know if for a short term ( 1 or 2 years) is a good option, or justchave to think to be there for a long time.

Thanks
