Simulator TRI / TRE Age Limit?

Hello everyone,
So you know anyone with 65+ age working as a TRI or TRE in the Simulators?

What flying privileges can someone exercise after the age of 65?

One guy where I did my 320 initial was 76, still employed with an very old contract, he said that he is thinking of going to retirement with 85. He works on a reduced scheme (only two weeks of working per month).

Great guy with great stories.

I know some EASA SFE's that are over 65 but they are required to hold a Class 1 medical certificate I believe.

There are no medical requirements for an EASA SFI

But an EASA TRE has no age limit as long as a class 1 medical is held and the TRE passes his own LPC every year !. I know one chap (TRE) who is a sprightly 73 !

when I went for my Interview at Flight Safety, SFI does not need Medical but Examiner (SFE/TRE) does. No age limit quoted for Sim only work.

Absolutely bonkers requiring a Class 1 medical for a simulator job!! I can understand when your flying paying passengers, but a simulator geez.

Strange.
I know several TRE's who have lost their Class 1 years ago.

Why on Earth would you need a class 1 for sim. instructing/ checking ?! Does not make sense at all.

Tell me about it, but under EASA you require one. You would think having a TRI/E on your ticket would be a back up when you hit 65 or lost your medical.

Another rule written by a bureaucrat.

Yes only EASA requires a Class One. The rest of the world of course does not.

Again the question is, what difference does it make if he/she doesn't have a medical?

An absurd rule that really needs reviewing or explaining.

I know one chap (TRE) who is a sprightly 73 !
By 'sprightly' you mean he can stagger along to the local public bar without any help?

When the bar is mentioned like most TRE's he (73yr old) is more likely to sprint...but tends to be quite Rowley Birkin QC by the finish ...after he's shown and told us kids how it was/is done !
