SG Flight Simulations - any feedback?
Has anyone used the full-motion simulator at SG Flight Simulations at Changi?
Home
I'm interested because I would like to go on their two-day course.
I'm not a commercial pilot, only a PPL. I live in Vietnam where there is no private flying, so once a year I go and do some flying somewhere. This year I thought it might be nice to try the Airbus simulator.
I've had a couple or trips in 737NG simulators, both full-motion and fixed-base. The latter experience has made me cautious about spending my money on simulators.
The SG simulator, while have a motion system. is not a zero-flight time simulator, so my question is, how good is the flight model? I'm particularly interested in its flight model in Alternate and Direct Laws. I want to see how the Airbus performs when in "real aeroplane mode".

latetonite,
I presume from your cryptic remark that you are wondering how I, as mere PPL, would judge the sim's performance? The answer of course is by comparing it with the 737 sims I have flown.

All depends what you understand with 'performance'.
You want to compare the visuals? The analogy with a real airplane?
Of course, unless you are going for training, a fixed base simulator will not thrill you out of proportions.
I still do not get your point.

ZFT,
Finally someone with some practical advice. Level D is clearly the way to go. Thanks.
I'll look into it. As you say cheaper local costs in BKK, and more fun too!
latetonite,
I'll clarify my request. I have a flying budget that I can't use in Vietnam, so each year, I splurge my money in a few days. In the last few years, I've done several hours in a Stearman, Yak-52 and Vampire in NZ. I've also had trips in a P-51 and a Spitfire. A Catalina is on the horizon, as well as some helicopter time
This year, I can't get away to NZ and decided I would spend my money nearer to home. I wasn't thrilled about stooging around in a 172 and while in Singapore recently, I came across an ad for SG Flight Simulations and decided that I would like to try an Airbus sim, to see how it flys in comparison to a 737.
However, I was disappointed with the fixed-base NG sim I recently flew (mainly the visuals), in comparison to my previous trip in a Level D, so I thought I would enquire before choosing a sim that clearly wasn't up to level D standards.
I'm not after a rating, it's just for fun to satisfy my curiousity, and I'm in a position that I can afford it.

Thai Pom,
Always good to have a bona fide excuse to fly to BKK
