Tokyo, Bali, Phuket, Taipai FBOs?

Yep......another trip to new destinations. Anyone with definite handlers we should avoid, or tips of really good ones, savings ideas etc?

Get on to a handler in Tokyo ASAP so you can sort out your landing and departure slots. I haven't been there for a few years, but it used to be that you were assigned an airport depending on slot and parking availability. Both airports have their pros and cons: notably, Haneda is very close to downtown, whereas Narita is a long way out of town.

We sometimes found that our preferred slots were simply unavailable, and had to adjust our schedule accordingly. Hence the advice to get your handler on board as early as possible. We used to use Noevir - not sure if they are still around. I heard that a few handlers went under after the tsunami and nuke leak.


Taipei (Taoyuan) RCTP has had a dedicated FBO for some years now, and you are well advised to use a handler who has access. Parking away from the FBO will probably require you to walk back and forth through the commercial airline terminals, which can take some time. If your pax have contacts at high level in Taiwan, you might be able to land downtown at Songshan RCSS... check with the handler, you can only ask!


Last time I went to Phuket, the local authorities bounced us due to parking restrictions. We ended up in Bangkok, which at the moment might be a less desirable destination than it usually is. Make sure you sort out overnight parking in Phuket, if required.


There is only one handler worth using in Bali... Dude (pronounced 'doo-day')! He and his team will take good care of you, and don't be shy about accepting his hospitality, if offered.

We use Indoasia in Indonesia, I think Mr Dude works for them,, maybe I am wrong but in the past we have used Mr Dude he was aswesome, but so are these guys no matter what airport you go to.

Instead of Bangkok try Utapoah 50nm sw of Bangkok, long runway and an International airport.

For Bali there is only one FBO which is Execujet, good service and reasonable charges.

FerrypilotDK. If you are new at this, you may want to contact a company, such as Universal, or Base Ops who will handle everything from A to Z. Overl flight permits, FBOs, ATC fees, landing and departure fees, legal representatives, parking permits, arrange for immigration, fuel requirements, flight plans fees. Leave nothing to chance or doubt.

Thanks.......no, not new to this at all, just some new airports to add to my world map. I always ask in here when heading off to a new airport, as I get the best hints of local resources, PMs about restaurants, local sites, etc IN ADDITION to the FBOs etc.

Sure Universal is going to tell me about the FBO that they have a relationship to, but maybe not a better local operation with excellent service, or the local restaurant with a brewery out back and a free motorcycle (or what-ever). I thank all the ppruners that share these gems of information.

If you don't have to use Bali, Surabaya or Lombok are just as good and much less expensive for parking, etc. Fees at WADD have gone up alot recently.

what plane n route you plan for? indo can be expensive if you get the wrong agent.
