Doctor body threatens FIR over 9W flight diversions
MUMBAI: Following a series of back-to-back bad experiences with Jet Airways over two days last weekend, a body of medical practitioners has threatened to file an FIR against the airline. They have also sought intervention by the civil aviation regulator.
The matter pertains to Sunday's Jet Mumbai-Jodhpur flight 9W315, which could not land at its destination. "The pilot could not land the aircraft; it took off when it was barely 100 feet above the runway," said Dr I S Gilada, president of AIDS Society of India, in a statement to the media.
From the doctor's description it appears that the pilot did a go-around.
The aircraft was diverted to Jaipur and its 200-odd passengers included singer Asha Bhosale, 25 national and international doctors and researchers who were travelling for a Jodhpur conference. They were kept waiting in the aircraft for hours without food or tea or information on their flight status, Dr Gilada alleged. It was only after much pleading that they were allowed to disembark. He said that on Saturday too, the airline had a similar diversion on the same sector and neglected its passengers in the same way. Dr Gilada alleged that he later learnt that the pilots of the said flights were not experienced enough
A Jet Airways spokesperson said flight 9W315 from Mumbai to Jodhpur had to be diverted to Jaipur because of poor visibility in Jodhpur due to heavy rain. "Consequently, Jet Airways flight 9W316 from Jodhpur to Mumbai was delayed,'' the spokesperson said. On Dr Gilada's allegation that a trainee pilot who was not experienced enough was deputed, the airline said that it has stringent training modules. "These make our cockpit crew capable and competent to handle such situations," the airline official said.

That suggests that two airline pilots have a greater collective intelligence and sense of survival than 25 doctors!

Expect the paper to write garbage
We'll I can tell you that jodhpur can be challenge when the weather is down, there is no IFR app for jets so it's a visual, having been there many times I can can be certain that a go around was the safest option , so much for intelligent doctors...and as far as the paper goes they should really think hard about printing every freakin diversion

wat the hell.
these stupid doctors presume to know abt flying, decision making and the eperience level in the cockpit?!
wud they have preferd if the flt crew had gone ahead and ended up digging a big smoking hole in the ground.
wat is this FIR business?
jet lost money when the flt was diverted.
no pilot wud do that willingly unless it was absolutely essential.
retards!!
