SpiceJet plans to add 7 new Boeings in 2013-14
SpiceJet plans to add seven new Boeing aircrafts during the current fiscal, which will help the company to strengthen its international operations. The company, which now caters to nine international destinations, is looking at Thailand, China and Iraq with new additional fleet. Meanwhile, the Airline has said it is not worried about the new competition in the domestic market thanks to its spread.
It may be noted, the Kalanithi Maran owned budget carrier SpiceJet last year added four Boeing aircrafts and eight Bombardier Q400s, taking the total fleet size to 54, of which 15 are Bombardiers and rest are Boeing.
The new aircrafts were part of SpiceJet order in 2010 for 30 Boeing Next-Generation 737-800, which were valued at about $2.3 billion at list prices then.
In the last eight years, the Airline has continued to maintain its efficiency in asset utilisation which has resulted in being one of the lowest seat cost provider in Indian aviation. The induction of new aircrafts in 2012-13 has helped the airline to increase its footprints to 14 domestic airports and six international airports in it's network, said the Airline in its 2012-13 Annual Report.
Besides, the Airline also said that the average number of Aircraft in operation was increased by 41.23% to 45.90 in 2012-13 from 32.50 in 2011-12 and number of flights operated increased by 34.67% to 109,267 in 2012-13 from 81,139 2011-12. Capacity deployed in Available Seat Kilometers rose to 16,338 million in 2012-13 from 13,717 million in 2011-12.
The airline could manage to report the increased due to induction of new Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400. Company's Bombardier Q400 foray continues to consolidate by providing connectivity to tier II and III cities. These airports due to its infrastructure constraints give the company a distinct competitive advantage, said the Airline.
Outlook
While the industry outlook for 2013-14 look at bit challenging, says SpiceJet, new aircrafts and destinations will result in additional aircraft utilisation and secure better yields. This will also offset the risk of infusion of additional capacities into domestic sectors, said in the Airline's Annual report.
In 2013-14, the Airline said it is planning to seven more Boeing 737NGs and majority of the capacity increased to be deployed in the international markets for which it has secured rights for these planned additions.
It may be noted, the Airline currently fly to nine international destinations and planning to add Bangkok, followed by second destination in China and Iraq.
On the emergence of new airlines in future, the company said it has insulated owing to the fact that its demand profile is spread across three passenger segments viz, the tier II &II, regional and international markets.
The latest entrant on the Indian skies is AirAsia, which is expected to commence its full fledge Indian operations end of this year.

Seven new boeings Wow, that is great news especially for Indians. This is going to increase the reach of Spicejet airlines in the Indian aviation market. NEW DELHI: Low-cost carrier (LCC) SpiceJet has posted its highest ever annual loss of Rs 1,003.2 crore in the financial year 2013-14 up five times from Rs 191 crore in the previous fiscal. The LCC's auditor has said this loss along with SpiceJet's total liabilities exceeding its assets by Rs 1,019.5 crore on March 31, 2014, "indicate the existence of a material uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue as a going concern".
What's more, the auditor, S R Batliboi and Associates, the FY 2013-14 loss figure would have been up by another Rs 7.5 crore had SpiceJet made provision for interest of a like amount on outstanding inter-corporate deposits taken by it in the past. In the quarter ended March 31, 2014, SpiceJet lost Rs 321.5 crore.
The airline said in a statement: "The year ended March 31, 2014, was perhaps the most challenging period in Indian aviation history. The sharp depreciation of the Rupee during the quarter ended September 30, 2013, was unprecedented. Given the fact that over 75% of any Indian airline's cost is influenced by $, the effects of the exchange rates on a broad spectrum of cost heads were crippling."

Last time I think they charged about 20 to 30 grand for writtens.More money for a sim assessment.Isnt that right ? Can someone shed some light on the proper figures.
Can someone also tell us how many pilots have left the airline in the last few months ?
