The YVR base is full. But, it's pretty simple. After you qualify as PIC1 (one to two years on the aircraft at Air China), you will be scheduled to fly primarily - but not exclusively - from YVR - PEK - YVR (and some domestic China in-between).

That's it.

"Not likely"...yep, no argument there. Otherwise, was told by agent...no more YVR basing. Have to take that at face value.

Has anyone been "upgraded" to full Captain yet on the CCQ course? A couple of years ago AC was promising foreign basing and you were just going to fly back and forth from your home base to China. That didn't last very long. They started flying them, or deadheading them, from home and then flew them domestically in China for their "duty" that month. The pilots were not amused.

Chinese pilots get a huge override for flying international. Hainan it was 100% extra pay, I don't know what it is for AC. The Hainan pilots got to fly very little internationally also for this reason.

Be careful. AC has done this before 2-3 years ago and it didn't work out for them or the expat pilots. Even if management wants it to happen that doesn't mean the instructors/line pilots/schedulers will go along.

And yes, the Chinese will absolutely make the same mistake again. And again. And again.
