Need some advice
Hello everyone,
I am currently in the process of going for recency at Carver Aviation in Baramti. I have obtained an FAA CPL and am now going to be converting it to a DGCA CPL. What i need to know is, can I apply for a SE CPL with the DGCA, then go abroadd, do 10 hours on ME, come back and apply for my ME add-onn, without having to sit through the written technical exam?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cant seem to get a sure answer from fellow classmates.

I would actually advise doing those 10 hours first.
Since you already have a FAA CPL for Single engine get the add on there first.
Then, when you get back to India, submit all your documents at once. This way you will have to give the flight tests only on SE, ME would be endorsed without an actual skill test and the written exams.
If you get the DGCA CPL for SE first, you will then be a 'CPL holder', will have to get an NOC, may have to appear for the papers.. just a lot more hassle..
Plus going through the waiting period twice would be quite painful. It could take upto 4 months each time.

Thank you Cactus, the wait period is the main reason i do not want to sit through the written. I am approaching the "5 year" mark and cannot afford to lose more time, or my entire training will be for not.
I already have a ME add on to my FAA CPL, thing is i did my training on a BE-76 which is now not recognized.
You still think I would have to sit through the papers?

They have been asking all those who convert to clear the tech specific for the multi . They will make it mandatory from beginning of 2013 or somewhere around that time .
Here is my suggestion .
1. Convert and get a DGCA Single Engine CPL first by giving the skill test in India . Conversion is usually your biggest headache , however once you get it converted anything further is much simpler than conversion .
2. Once you have your DGCA CPL register for a multi tech specific exam ( say the PA 34) . Its not as hard as you imagine and question banks are available .
3. Go abroad fly the 10 hours including the skill tests . You dont need an NOC anymore . Come back and get it endorsed on the DGCA license .

If short of time.. Cyril's advise seems best.
You might not even need to appear for written if you get 20 ours of ground class there.
You are probably going to end up spending the next year at DGCA's mercy.. but agree with it if really approaching 5 year mark.
Just try putting yr papers for BE 76 too.. try your luck. with the DGCA you never know.
Hope you are recent within the 6 months though.. ( cause the BE 76 rule is almost a year old now)
