CAAC doctors in PEK out of control

Yes they are. I went through the whole process for an airline in China, passed the sim and all the paperwork requirements and then was told I had Hyperglycaemia (diabetes). I went and had extensive tests done at independent laboratories and was told not so. Went back to China for a further medical tests and then was told I had the opposite-Hypoglycaemia!!! Further tests done independently revealed my blood sugar was normal. Test forwarded to PEK and was told to go away.

Beware.

I wasted thousands of dollars and two weeks of my life on those fools.

Medicals in China is a business scam, the more they fail the more they will get because the airline still needs the pilots.

Yes guys the medical in China is a real 'event'!! Here at CSA we constantly have guys being taken off the line for medical failures. Most of the time its for imaginary 'issues' but nevertheless you WILL lose your salary until someone somewhere decides that indeed what they 'found' in you is not actually there and you will invariably get the medical back again. This will probably take a few months in most cases so sounds alright but unless you have an insurance that pays out as soon as you are taken off the line then you'll be drastically out of pocket after those few months. Now bearing in mind most of us are in China for the same reason, it really is a spin of the roulette wheel every time you go in for the medical chack.
Cheers all

In this countries it is all the same bs. I remember, lots of years ago, joining QR(I know, different country, same crap) we had to do an "extended" medical. QR paid for normal medical, so all "problems" they would find and needs extra attention would be of course paid by the pilot.

The result: nearly everyone(I was a young and healthy guy back then), including me had some kind of magical problem.
My FO had some problems with his lungs(initially they said he has lung cancer :- , the poor man was desperate) ), I had some problems with my blood(of course, if you don't find anything go with blood or urine).
He had to pay for some extra x-rays and a "private" consultation of a hospital doctor, I had to run another blood test, so I came out cheaper(couple of 100 Qatari Rials or how they call their micky mouse money).

Of course everyone made it finally. But a bit poorer.

Its all about demonstration of power and money.

I even had it once in Europe(west) that some medical genius close to retirement found something wrong with the hearth curve(something with the "backside" of the curve), even grapped out one of his old(very old) books and showed it to me. I asked if that is a problem, he replied - no worries, all ok.

Good, one year later, different doctor(the old one retired, thanks god), do my medical. Suddenly he says, "oh, you have hearth problems and it is in your file - lets have a look at that". Great.
Long story short - after a lot of wasted time (sitting at different doctors/hospitals) - they discovered that I DO NOT have this hearth condition. Just because some guy has to show off at the end of his career....

Why I bore you with this stories? I want to say that you find this kind of medical fraud (at the end they make money out of you) is found nearly everywhere in the world. Exceptions might be medical centers run by the company like EK.

And you find idiot doctors all over the world. Not limited to China(but most likely they have a higher density of this guys).

Much easier than writing the rejection letter, then the may have to justify it....

100% agree. But the worst it is that they may make you unhealthy like in my case . I return from China only with 20% of eyesight.

CAAC Butcher's

Because my vision was so good, I was told that I was lying about prior eye procedures. Doc told me that I previously had some sort of surgical procedure to enhance my vision and I was sent packing.

Very plain fact...never been any type of medical instrument in my eyes.

Still today great vision.....healthy life and getting laid regular.

Thank you.

It had happened in public hospital. During eyes check the doctor damage my cornea by lens. I couldn't open my eyes, it was very difficult to react on light. In that moment I was thinking nothing serious. But the next day I woke up and realized nothing had changed!!!!!!!

I called my agent and asked to drive me in private eye clinic. After examination they gave me an eye drops and told me it is just infection. The most scared thing is that I had to return home today, almost blind. 14 hour flight with connection in Beijing, different terminals, alone.

In Russia doctor told me that I am lucky. They had damaged 3 layers of 5. If another one, say bye bye to Aviation. After proper medical treatment one eye 100% second 70%. Before China, both 100%.

Good luck.

@tatarin

I'm sorry to hear what happened to your eyes. But at the same time I am happy that lady luck worked out for you and the damage was not severe enough to cause you your career in aviation.

The horrible state of affairs can be : pass initial CAAC medical, join airline xyz on $20000/ month. Happly checked to line you do your next CAAC medical check. Wham, Bam , sorry you failed on your hypoglycemia lateral dimensional resonance scan. Err, WTF you saying Doc?

Well says Dr Zue Xian Me, you go away and you do own test. Pay own money, not my problem. Now you're under massive stress , which raises blood pressure, so next assesment you fail for high blood pressure " above recommended" Bye bye.

Soon you wish you had not had your ears bent by the Chinese $$$ devil.

So, these are CAAC docs spreading this mayhem ? Employed by CAAC ? Maybe they should drop in on the prune and read this article:

Asia travel lacks pilots to cope with travel boom, Airbus CEO Bregier says

What kinda show are these folks runnin' over there ? :-))))
