a few days ago.... I guess not only lion have problems with Pekanbaru...
July 17, 2012
A Garuda Indonesia flight skidded off the runway at Pekanbaru, Riau’s Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport as it landed in heavy rains Tuesday afternoon, an official said.
The airport ceased operations for hours Tuesday afternoon as crews and military personnel worked to evacuate the Boeing 737-800, general manager Anggono Laras said Tuesday evening.
“We’re still trying to evacuate the plane and have to temporarily cease flights until next announcement,” Anggono said.
Environment Minister Balthasar Kambuaya was among the passengers aboard the flight, which departed from Jakarta.
The plane skidded off the runway at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. No one was injured.
The accident caused at least four flights to be diverted from Pekanbaru to neighboring airports, Anggono said.

OK... the Wx was above minima. The runway is ample enough to meet required landing performance based on the aircraft's LGW. Now if the runway is straight and wide enough and if the pilot is skilled enough to land in the touch-down zone... then why is it such a difficult airport?

The runway in PECK sucks! So many dips and humps you think the gear will shear off. Add some water well good luck. Just another example of very poor runways conditions in Indonesia. There is a reason they are near the bottom in safety.
The runway should be closed for a complete tear up and rebuild. However this will never happen. We don't land in PECK if its wet period.
