Danger Where to fly the A330

There is a lot of job and airline bashing on this site, and rightfully so. Lets turn it around and instead of saying which airline you wouldn't go to fly, lets hear where people WOULD go to fly. Currently I am looking for an A330 left seat position and it seems the options are limited to this part of the world for my FAA ticket. That being said, what is the best? or at least the best of the worst?

Hi,
Depends what are you looking for, it means if a commuting contract or not, stable company or just a term contract, a nice place where to live or a nice company where to work? If you are looking for a place where to make a lot of money in few years this is mainland China. Good commuting contracts in Vietnam and Korea. Nice place where to leave Hong Kong or Taipei.
Anyway everybody has his personal considerations and situations
I think you can pick up a good job with the A330.
Good luck.

Safe flights

re

Are you on the 330 by chance? If so, where and how is it? I would prefer a commute (often) but would live somewhere if it was nice enough and there were some pretty girls...

Sorry, I'm not on the A330 but working in Asia. I think a good option could be Vietnam but I don't know if they are still looking for people on the 330 LHS. Just have a look with Rishworth aviation, they manage most of the contracts over there.

Don't forget a lot of companies require you to have 500-1000 hours on type, and in the left seat, for a DEC position.

Yup, all things I can look up. What I am really asking is of guys that are flying in China, Taiwan, HK, etc, where is the least crappy place to be right now?

By the way, I looked for Vietnam postings, none to be found. We've got Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Hainan, someone in Taiwan, Korean Air (who wants you to have 4 years FO time, wth?), Tianjin, and a few others to choose from.

For 330 LHS, Asian positions, try Korean (they offer a commutable package I believe), Air China (Vancouver base, but most commute), Hong Kong Airlines (not sure if they are offering Direct Entry LHS), Vietnam Airlines, Sizchuan Airlines based in Chengdu - China

As for living in Asia.... every city is different, each has its good and bad things to offer. Depends on what you make of it.

Vietnam hasn't hired DEC's to the 330 (or 777) for quite a few years now, they aren't growing the fleet so there's not much movement, and they prefer to promote A320 guys from within. All the action for new joiners is A320 / ATR only these days.

Lots of contract jobs going with the mainland airlines but if you don't wanna go there then I think both the Taiwanese airlines (EVA / China Airlines), and Air Hong Kong are your best bet right this moment.

Also, I'm not sure if it's still ongoing, but a few months ago there was a bunch of A330 DEC jobs going with Maskargo, could be worth a look, KL is probably my favourite city in Asia
