Korean Airlines-Expat A330 Capt
This is the final message from CCL about the latest position concerning expat captains...received this morning.Might be of interest to some....besides the normal QR's...one needs 4+ years F/O Airline JET Transport time..too.
"Please note that this rule only applies to ex-pat pilots considering employment with KAL. I have no indication on ‘exact details’ of this rule. KAL advised us 3 months ago that they now require the 4+ years F/O Airline JET Transport time in order to continue with an initial application. We take this change in criteria like all other changes and apply it to those applying for a KAL position. This has caused a substantial decrease in applicants.
I have recently requested KAL evaluate some Captains that just fall short of the 4+ years (one by only 1 month), and others with substantial turbo prop time, it is quite clear now that there is no exemption to this requirement.

Secret investigation by human resource management on flight administration and flight ops indicated possible collusion by certain quarters in recruiting con artists. Hence the management is trying to come to grips with dodgy credentials. Sometime back, they try even to trick expat pilots to reveal their P2 and P1U/S hours with the lame excuse of using it as statistical data for recruitment! I guess many fell for it!

How to understand background for this requirements? Can anybody explain what is the reason for that? If one spent three years on turboprop, was upgraded to captain and then remains captain on all other types - does it mean such a pilot being expat couldn't apply for captain position with KAL?
