Exclamation Never Free!

Nothing is free in this world! No type rating by any pilot in this world is free .
It is a matter of who foots the bill usually the companies do, apparently these days the the rookies are made to pay for type which costs around 21000 Euros!

Research never hurt anyone.

With 5000 competitors for every single vacancy,
Got to do what a man has got to do.

remember you get what you pay.. pay a bit more for a quality course that will ensure you a pass at the interview
But how can you differentiate between a "high quality" type rating and a ordinary type rating when you have no experience in such decisions? So much depends on the candidate whether he has the drive to get into the books every night or be a slack-arse. It is said that Qantas in Melbourne charge you $51,000 AUD for a 737-800 type rating. On the other hand you may be able to get the same rating in Miami or elsewhere in USA for around $15,000. The Miami course is compressed into just over two weeks whereas the Qantas course could extend to six weeks depending on simulator availibility and not necessarily a better standard of instructor either. It is not until you get into the simulator that you find out for the first time the standard of the instructor. Some are screamers while others are professional.

A stretched out course doesn't necessarily mean a "high quality" course.

I did my 737-800 rating from Boeing Training and Flight Services, Seattle and for good 3-4 months i thought i got the best deal and I was with the best instructors and TRTO available in the market.

It didn't take long to burst my bubble when i was not selected in the very first interview i appeared !!

All I would say is... It all depends on the individual. In the end it is you who have to study !!!! The instructors and the TRTO don't give u a magic potion after which u are a ACE pilot on the aircraft. You have to spend time with manuals, you have to perform in the simulator and above all you have to have confidence in yourself.

No matter where u do your training from... the bottom line is you would spend the same time studying on your own !!!!

Do a favor for yourself... Go to a decent enough TRTO.... study well... DO PAY ATTENTION DURING THE SIMULATOR.... and study PERFORMANCE (DAMMIT no one teaches that !!! )
