Saipan

Has anyone had experince of the 2 operations in Saipan.
They fly shorts 360, but one web site i've seen paints a very grim picture of life there.

Saipan is a bit underdeveloped, and if you cannot find something to occupy your spare time it would be a problem. It is a lot quieter than Guam. There is some incredible scenery on a drive around the island, but you won't want to do that every week.
If you're a heavy drinker, no problem, just prop up the bar at "Rick's Bar" every night. If not, you would need to be heavily into something like scuba diving, stamp / coin collecting, music, amateur radio, or some other thing that you can do by yourself when needed. Hotels have social clubs where you can use their facilities. Very expensive!
It really seems to be a place where you could easily go "island happy" I think you would need a car, as there is unlikely to be public transport to the airport at your reporting times. Typically single guys will buy an old car and run it into the ground. If you're married and going accompanied, accommodation standard & personal security for your family would need to be an extremely serious consideration. Don't go unless there is a good confirmed description of accommodation. There are some cheap areas, so don't believe that you will be happy with quoted accommodation prices unless you have actually checked what you will get.
Info is based on many overnights in SPN in the last year.
