A320 Ground studies in india
Hello Everybody,
I heard that in the latest Indigo exam for type rated pilots, the written test was quite tough.I just want to enquire is there any Ground coaching for the technical part of the A320 aircraft which covers the FCOM in detail.

I'll advice you to go through the FCOM on your own. No tutor is going to tell you anything extra other then what is written in the FCOM.
Make a group....Go word by word... Understand each system to the fullest.... and then you can question each other among yourself !!!
In the end its self study only. The tutor wont give you a potion after which u'll be able to recite the COM's.... but he will charge you a load !!
Clear Skies !!

I attempted the latest written for type rated pilots with IndiGo and passed. It was definitely not "easy" but certainly not too tough to clear. Most of the questions were straight forward stuff.
My suggestion is to read the FCOM's thoroughly. Especially performance theory. IndiGo is big on performance. You don't need any ground theory classes. Save your money and instead study yourself.

Congrats for clearing the written exam.I totally agree that self study is the best type of study but as i have also gone through the FCOM there were certain topics which were tough too understand. For example there was a guy who asked me "if the engine start valve was stuck in the open position does the a/c need maintenance action or the valve can be shut by manual operation by ground personnel".I was clueless about the answer and there was no such thing mentioned in the FCOM.

Old style FCOM 3.04.70 p8 : Start valve manual operation procedure will be performed in coordination with a ground crew member.
Tip: However, if for any reason the ground crew cannot shut it manually, then maintenance action will be required.

If you know where to find things in Fcom then you know A320.
And Rahul is right the paper was tough but nothing was out of Fcom's.
Go through Fcom1 for systems
Fcom2 Takeoff and landing chapter for performance
Fcom3 for abnormals.
This is more then enough to clear any Written exam.

Changes in A320 Manuals
Hi,
Airbus has recently revised the FCOMs and there is a significant change in the manner data has been presented.
The new concept of IFLD replaces ALD....etc etc
Taking classes from someone who can take you through these would help.
