Giving Sri Lankan a try

I am a 530ish hour CFII living in the U.S. It took me about 3 years to get my licenses. I have yet to get my multi engine rating. My plan is to apply for the Sri Lankan cadet pilot program once I get my twin engine rating. Over the years I have done some extensive research and have concluded that since the competition is vastly high, I may not get in the first time. The reason I want to go back is obvious. It may take me many years to become established in the U.S. and be able to fly international routes. Like one of my friends said choosing between a Dash 8 and a A320 is a no brainer. What are my chances as a Cessna 172 driver to be able to do well in a Sri Lankan Airlines interview? I have no knowledge or experience flying jets. What can I do to prepare before the interview? I am both anxious and excited at this prospect and any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I hoep to apply for the next round of cadet pilots, hopefully in a few months...I will be 27 in June and I would love to be an A320 driver in the near future. Far too many of my fellow pilots are suggesting I go back because the lifestyle of regional airlines in the U.S. is not very good.

SmartCockpit - Airline training guides, Aviation, Operations, Safety

use this website to study...

If the Lankan system is true and honest the study your nav / instruments / everything you do today.

The airline recruitment capt knows you have never touched a jet or large turbo prop hence will not ask you detailed questions. Any jet related questions will be about basic jet engines / aerodynamics / jeppesen charts etc.

study hard ask for tips from other guys who went thru the same and got the job.

dont depend on this web site for people to help you.. or spoon feed you.. there are many after that same job just like you.

@XCstar62

I think you need to convert and obtain a Sri Lankan Pilot license from the Sri Lankan Civil Aviation Authority ( If you have this already then disregard this message )
I remember seeing the ad on their website a long time ago .

I know of a senior from my flight school who left about the same time I joined . He seems to have finally joined the program and I think should have started flying by now .

If you would like I can pm you his contact details so that you can find out the whole process and other details from him .
